Guitar ID

Added Picture Below Can someone help me identify a guitar I just got? things point towards 87 RG, or do they?.--Serial# F 767305-- which is on a headstock sticker. Has 4 bolt blank neck plate. Neck has 550 R stamp, which seems right as it is rosewood wizard, no skunk stripe.
Has Edge tremolo, PU configuration is HSH, V1-S1- V2 mounted in typical RG 550 pickgaurd config. Body color is a Charcoal mist or something.
Pickup selector switch YM-50
Volume pot and tone 504071 and 604041, best I can tell

I would say its a 87 RG 550 except:
seems most RG 550's are some bright color,ie yellow, red, or just black etc.
the pickups are black and have "IBZ V1" , IBZ S1, IBZ V2 in white on each pickup.

Added Picture Below

thanks for any input,
ringo11

Re: Guitar ID

Might be a spot production model, but all of your info points to a 1987 RG-550.

Re: Guitar ID

The original 1987 RG550 came in four finishes only: Desert Yellow, Road Flare Red, Black, White.

If this statement from an old post is correct then my guitar( as a whole ) can not be a 87

Yes it can! Like I posted earlier--it could e a spot production model. You cannot rule out models based on catalog colors, as there were some spot production guitars that sported colors not listed.

Re: Guitar ID

what the hell then, I mean what do I have? A rare 87 RG 550 or a mongrel of some sort?
What does one sale it as? How do you ask 600 dollars for a guitar that MIGHT be something?

Re: Guitar ID

Could just be a mongrel too, or maybe someone painted it? Put some pics up, see if anyone else has one.

Re: Guitar ID

camera is inop at the moment or I would, but its just a typical 550 except for the items of concern I've already pointed out. Paint appears factory,a very fine metal-flake. its chipped here and there and shows no sign of being repainted. I was thinking mongrel except the hand written matching numbers on the neck and body make me question that.
As it stands its value has to be that of a mongrel, unless I can prove other wise.
