guitar origins - where did this thing COME from?

the only guitar i've ever owned is a Hohner. *all i know about it is its serial number (76974) and that my dad bought it in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the late 1970's (its in pretty good condition, i think :loco. *it also fits snuggly in my dad's old case for his gibson he played in high school. *

can i find where it was made, or approximately how old it is? *any ideas/thoughts on where to start? *my dad doesn't know any more than i do. *

i'll take some pictures of it for my website, and link to them here later. *

Hohners are currently made in Korea but early '70s models come from Japan. Distributed in the US by HSS or Richmond (a Division of Hohner)... this company is best known for its harmonicas and I don't think many guitarists are surprised by that

Hohner started as a German company, but are now pretty globalized.

http://www.hohnerusa.com might be a good place to start.

Hohner harmincas were made in Germany, but I don't think they EVER made any guitars there...

i personally think my guitar sounds great. *the only things i really need to fix on it are the fret wires, which have worn down tremendously, and some of the hardware is green with corrosion from years and years of bar gigs. *but yeah, i'm definitely in the market for a new guitar . *

thanks for the link! *i guess it pays to start with the obvious.
