Erm yea i noticed that when i play my guitar on the high E string from frets 11 t0 17, using distortion i can hear the note pulsate. Ive tried it out on more then one amp and it does the same thing so i'm pretty sure that its the guitar thats wrong. I was just wondering whether it was the pickups at fault because i've still got the dimarzio ibz stock pickups installed, and i heard that there not very gd. Any help will be apprecitated.

Does the guitar have a fresh set of new strings? I've noticed on my guitar (after a week or so of hard playing) the high E string won't intonate properly past the 12th fret, and I get the kind of note warble (pulse) you described. Just a thought.

Pickups may be a bit too high and it's causing the string to pulsate from the magnetic pull.

I agree. That pulsating sound can be a a sign that your pick-ups are too close. The magnet is interfering with the strings vibrating naturally.
