Had to sell my Jem, but ....

I got something really nice to replace it.

Suhr Standard with trans red quilt top. The picture don't do justice to the top, it looks like it moves when close up.

Its a fantstic guitar to play, took a little time to adjust from my Jem, but now its like butter. The Buzz Feiten tuning system is brilliant I never realised how out of tune other guitars have been without it

Anyway here are some pics

Re: Had to sell my Jem, but ....

Holy crap...

I've been gassing for a Suhr for so damn bloody long already. That's a sweet one you got there. Quilted maple, I'm guessing V60s and a DSH+ perhaps? And you got John to sign it!

KILLER!

Did you custom order it or was it bought at a store or used? What neck profile did you get? How's that Suhr bridge in comparision to the Wilkinson variant as an option on other Suhrs....

Heh boat load of questions man, but I'm happy for you.

An Suhr or a Tyler would be my personal Dream Guitar!

Thanks Chris, I thought it was pretty cool that it was signed by the man himself - gives it a real custom guitar feel

Pickups are V60s and SSH+, pull on tone pot splits the humbucker
Neck profile is Even C RB with African Rosewood board
I bought it new from Sounds Great in Manchester (UK distributor)
I haven't tried the wilkinson bridge so I can't compare it, but I'm happy with the standard bridge that's in it, nice tone and stable tuning

Re: Had to sell my Jem, but ....

Very nice, the SSH+ seems to be the Suhr humbucker of choice for high gain shred! African rosewood...exotic!

I'll be trying to aim one on the used market, they seem to be going at really reasonable used prices on the gear page. My dream on would be a Suhr Classic in black, rosewood fretboard, with tortoise shell guard, V60s and the secret landau humbucker pickup in the bridge

I'm so jealous

Re: Had to sell my Jem, but ....

Looks great, congrats. I played a suhr almost the same as that not to long ago....great guitars no dout.

I must make a sugestion.....try some bare knuckle pickups in it. I would lay money on the fact you wont go back to other pickups...i know i havent.

Looks nice... never played one or anything....

whyd you have to sell the Jem though? To buy this or needed money at the time? Just curious. It's a bit different specs than a Jem too - H-S-S, 22 frets, no floyd.

I had to sell my Jem to fund the Suhr. (Thanks StTan)

I thought my Jem was fantastic I wanted a change and something a bit more "mature" If you know what I mean.

Who knows when the wife's not looking I might buy another Jem

Specs are very different than the Jem but I was never really happy with the Jems clean sound, didn't use frets 23 & 24 very much, and didn't really need the Edge-Pro. The standard trem and Sperzels do a great job on the Suhr

Re: Had to sell my Jem, but ....

I've heard that the pickups on Suhrs especially with SSH's are very balanced. Is there a huge output drop when you switch from single to hum and vice versa?

Once again sweet axe!

There is a slight drop in output when switching from H/B to single coil, but not much.

The SSH+ has a great sound, and the single coils have a superb clean sound
