Has anyone tried the Giannini 7-string classical

I just stumbled across these today. A few of the larger on-line dealers (including ********) have them. For about $370, I wouldn't expect much, but I may try one anyway just for the hell of it. There are so few options in 7-string acoustics and none that I've tried has really set my world on fire. At least this one has the advantage of being really cheap.

Is it an acoustic or a classical?

It's a nylon string acoustic available both with and without a pickup.

I looked a little more carefully and apparently it's not avalable until May 15.

The forum won't let me post a link because it's to a known on-line dealer. So do a google search on

I am very interested in these as well. A few have hit evilbay. If anyone has played one, let us know how they are.

Re: Has anyone tried the Giannini 7-string classical

Yeah, i do have.
BTW, i'm living 10 miles away Giannini Brazilian factory at Salto city, in São Paulo.
All i can say it's cheap.
Meanwhile it worths the price here. Nice 7 string for the money, anyway.
I've just played the acoustic version, not the 'eletrified' one.
The intonation is good and playability is great!
The sound is really loud and clear, with lots of sustain.
Sometimes the action is high to fit classical player's preferences.
Those Giannini's are really strong and can live a long life:
i have mine 6 strings for 10 years now and still solid.
The brazilian woods are very nice, strong and stable, since we have crazy wheater, humidity and hot temperatures!
Sometimes getting a new one needs some adjusting...
Just one more thing: remember this isn't TOP NOTCH quality:
It's like MIJ guitars: better than Korea, worst than USA made!!!

Great info, thanks. I'm basically an electric player and I don't see that changing, so that's proably good enough for my purposes.

Hmm. a $370 classical seven? That's cool, and cheap enough that you could almost justify it as an impulse purchase.

Re: Has anyone tried the Giannini 7-string classical

As a die-hard 7 string player, and a classically trained guitarist, I've been looking for something like this for a LOOONG time (ever since I had a master seminar with Paul Galbraith, and saw his 8-string )

A must-have purchase, and what a price!

Re: Has anyone tried the Giannini 7-string classical

One word of warning to everyone. If you did a google search for this guitar, then you found the same dealer I did. Their name ends 123 and this forum's software won't allow the full name. I've purchased from them before without a problem but they've been notroriusly bad at handling back orders, so my suggestion is to wait until they're in stock before placing an order.

Re: Has anyone tried the Giannini 7-string classical

Thanks for the tip Jim

I'm with Dark wolf. I got my start on the classical guitar, and I have been wanting a 7 string classical for a long time. I would eventually like to get a custom 7 string classical built, but this could certainly do wonders in the mean time. I will be very interested to see/hear if anyone buys one.

Re: Has anyone tried the Giannini 7-string classical

I'm with everyone - I got my start on a steel string acoustic playing nirvana, and then got into proggy lead stuff, so I have no background on a classical... but I've always liked their sound, and while I'm sure it'd kill purists, they sound surprisingly good for alternate picked runs...
