have anyone used J5 telecaster?

I was looking for a versatile telecaster, and I found John5 signature model telecaster made in Mexico...
This looks cool and I like the spec..Does anyone know how it sounds?
I'm just uncertain about Mexican fender's quality.
should I buy this one or buy a standard US tele and swap pickups?

i played the Mex John5 tele & wasn't impressed. pickups are underpowered, no tone knob & the silly headstock design just puts me off.

i's rather you invest in the Japanese aerodyne telecaster if you can get your hands on one that is. swap the bridge single coil to a humbucking unit & you'll have a unique sounding tele...

I agree the headstock on his sig tele is silly looking.

I've tried the Aerodyne, and I can tell you that it's one sweet axe. The soapbar sounds very nice, but you may want a humbucker if you're looking for versatility.

Dark Throne/ Satyricon/ Marduk... you name it. guitar type/ brand is only part of the black metal equation, the other essential being the distortion intensity, that's where the amp comes into play.
