Havent Posted Here In Forever, A Few Of My Swirls

Hey guys, I havent posted here in forever, to be honest I have no clue why LOL.

Anyways some might remember me, some might be new to me but I have been painting guitars forever and always modding them.

Lately I wanted to have a couple swirls so I began learning and here is a couple of the ones I am finishing.

First up is a RG120 I currently have this one for sale on ebay this was my first swirl I tried and although it came out great, I never really wetsanded or polished it. Just clear coated it.

Next up since I learned quite a bit was my S470 I decided to model after Van Gogh's Starry Night, I wanted lots of blues.

Wet sanded and polished this one to a mirror finish

Just waiting for my Headstock Decal

And then next up was a RG220 I got on the cheap to make myself a little GMC action.

Wet sanded and polished to a mirror finish

Again waiting on my headstock decals

whats your finishing technique? you get a nice shine.. are you going all the way to 2000 grit, rubbing compound then wax??

Re: Havent Posted Here In Forever, A Few Of My Swirls

I wetsand with 800,1000,1200,1500,and 2000

then I use hand buffing which is a pain on ye ol shoulders but it produces a beautiful result, I prefer it over a buffing wheel

after that is done I use 3M Finesse It II

then I use 3M Imperial Glaze to finish it off

Re: Havent Posted Here In Forever, A Few Of My Swirls

believe it or not little tip I picked up years ago, paper towels and dry it produces enough friction and heat to bring it right up to a mirror finish.

and Lone, havent done a relic in forever haha maybe one day I will do another one

Re: Havent Posted Here In Forever, A Few Of My Swirls

Believe it not that little RG120 is a good player, kinda hate to get rid of it, but other projects demand money LOL..

I was surprised how well the trem actually worked on that thing expected it to go way out of tune and it didnt.
