Help id a neck

Looking for some help. I just got a neck from an auction site with was listed as an RG550/570 from 1998. I got it to replace the neck on my 1996 Rg550 as its in a pretty awful state.

Due to the rosewood board, its more likely a 570 neck and the serial starts F98 so its definitely a 98 model and was made in Japan.

Two things don't seem to add up. Firstly, the logo doesn't have the chrome lettering, which my older 550 has which makes me think it is from a lower spec model, however, the maple does have a rather nice flame to it making me think it is from a higher spec guitar.

The profile of the neck is definitely a Wizard 1 and not a Wizard 2 as it feels identical to the original 550 also, so that makes me think it's not from an RG470 or even a RG505.

There is also no stamp in the heel.

Don't get me wrong. No matter what guitar it originally came from, i'm more than happy with it as its in excellent condition with practically no fret wear at all and looks superb with the flame maple.

Re: Help id a neck

does your new neck have a bubinga "skunk stripe" like the photo below?? Also, what color is the headstock painted and what color is the logo?

Re: Help id a neck

Thanks for the reply. There is no bubinga stripe, just 1 piece maple and the logo is matt silver and above the clear coat.

Everything is telling me its from a cheaper model, buy the flame maple is throwing me plus it profile feels the same as my original 550.

Re: Help id a neck

Is the headstock painted black and does it say "RG series" or just the logo and checkmark??

My guess is that it's an RG3XX neck from the Japanese market.......these were all original wizard spec in '98 so your right, it's the same as your 550.........A neck I'd be happy to play on
