Help identify an old RG

I have had an RG body and neck broken down in my garage for the past 10 years wasting away in a case. Currently it's just collecting dust, but I finally found a local guitar shop that can do exceptional work in a timely manner and figured I would have it painted a custom color. I have searched the web for info on dating an Ibanez guitar, and was directed to Ibanez rules. There is no serial number on the neck plate, but there is a sticker on the back of the headstock reading "F7***** made in Japan." I looked all over trying to find a 1987 RG catalog, but came up mostly empty handed. I'm thinking that my RG is an RG560, but the original color does not match the info or spec of that model. Here's the specs: H-S-S configuration - with plating around the humbucker, original edge trem, original neck joint, 24 fret shark tooth inlays with ivory binding around the outside of the neck and headstock, and the original paint scheme was a metallic silver. The body is completely sanded down, except for the neck pocket and trem cavity painted jet black. The neck joint was painted over by the previous owner, so I can not obtain the info from there. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Help identify an old RG

The shark tooth inlays and HSS suggest an RG760, which I believe was first available in 1989. Odd that the serial points to '87... I'll look around a bit and maybe someone else can chime in

Re: Help identify an old RG

Thanks for the help. Maybe it was pieced together with different parts, because I noticed that sharktooth's were not around in the '87-'88 catalogs either.
I just looked at the '89 catalog and found the RG760 with Paul Gilbert's pic. None of the paint codes match the paint job when I stripped the guitar 10 years ago. Seems like I have an experiment or project guitar. Any suggestions as to what single coils I should put into this thing to make it sing? It will be either getting an evolution or breed for the hum for sure. I was thinking of having it painted this color, but with a black headstock and neon yellow Ibanez decal under the clear. Hardware would be black also, and have the original edge. Thanks again!

Maybe not so much as LNG, but a little more fluorescent green.

Re: Help identify an old RG

I'm starting to piece together my parts to reassemble the guitar, but I have a question for you guys. The trem posts that I have are not the correct one's. Were the original edge trems equipped with screw-in posts? There are two holes with threading already in the body, but I do not have the proper inserts. Can anyone help me with this issue? The two inserts I have are vertically ground to drop into the sleaves, but these are threaded for some reason.
Hopefully Rich or someone with older Ibanez guitar knowledge can lead me in the right direction. Thanks!
