There was a ProLine model of Ibanez axes circas '85-86 just before the JEMs and revamped RGs with recessed trems were released. The serial number on your guitar should give a clue as to the production year.
There were actually five buttons above the regular controls... three white ones and two black ones on either end. This was a "pre-set" switching scheme, whereby the player could set any two pickup combinations (using the white buttons) and recall them (using the black buttons).
I say "almost Edge" because the PL's aren't routed underneath (can't pull up).
BTW- I missed the 'neck-thru' note in the first post. The 1770's had bolt on necks (the 1880's have different switching); the 2550/2660's were neck-thru.
