Help me ID this guitar

Hey all, new to the forums.

Anyway, my brother is into guitars and I have heard him speak of wanting to get an ibanez RG550,560, or 570. I figure he knows more than I do about these things so I did some research and saw that these guitars are considered great sounding, and whatnot.

Anyway, I need help ID'ing a guitar, title says its an 2000 RG570, but being I wouldnt know one from a hole in the wall, do you guys think you could help out?

here are some pics he sent me... Just put the http together

htt p://tinypic.com/r/2napnkg/6 from afar

htt p://tinypic.com/r/aesfpu/6 back, near the jack

htt p://tinypic.com/r/2r765xx/6 closer

htt p://tinypic.com/r/263wt8j/6 close up of bridge and pickups

htt p://tinypic.com/r/2h7qb1d/6 Model number?

I really appreciate all your help

Thank you very much

Re: Help me ID this guitar

It's not a RG570, but an RG470. The bridge and the jack plate are the give-aways.

Whilst not as nice as an RG570 with it's Edge bridge, the Japanese made RG470 is perfectly fine. The LO-TRS bridge is a solid unit, not to be confused with the Korean LO-TRS II version, which is a piece of junk.

There looks to be a few chips and stuff on the guitar, but if the price is right then its a good guitar to buy.

Thanks a lot. I contacted the seller and made him aware of the model error. I don't think he purposely listed it as 570 in order to mislead, because with the pics he sent, someone could easily do as I, and find someone who knows what to look for to verify the model.

Anyway, he apologized and told me that everything is in working order. Could the bridge be switched out for this Edge bridge you mentioned, found in 570's? Is that even worth it? Also, what, in your opinion would be the right price?

Again, any help is appreciated.

Re: Help me ID this guitar

Like I said, the LO-TRS is a perfectly functional bridge. You could swap it out for an Edge, but you'd need to sand/route the cavity a little, and the cost of the tremolo probably wouldn't be worth it depending on the cost of the guitar.
