Ive found a guitar for sale on the internet classifieds, but the guitar is sold as "Ibanez Rg Series, built 1994 with floyd rose".

ive contacted the seller to see if he could tell me what model it is, and he hasnt got a clue. he bought it 2 or 3 years ago for £750, and is asking £250 for a quick sale. he has no receipt from when he bought it, so no luck there. and obviously its a big ask to get him to take the neck off!

normally id post the link, but until ive got a few more posts under my belt, i cant do that, so ill describe everything i can see:

has gold hardware (tuners, nut and trem - trem looks low profile)
H-S-H config (fuzzy picture, but looks like v8-s1-v7 written on them)
no pickguard
no pickup rings
24 fret maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays
3 covers on the rear (looks like the usual rear trem access cover, the kidney shaped ?electrics? cover, and the small rounded square cover (for active pickups?!)

its got a stained wood body, which looks like a flamed maple top (in a trans blue colour)

my best guess (from a bit of research) is the RG470FM-TB, but from the highly detailed :P description above, has anyone got any better ideas, or any good way to tell without taking it to bits?

and if it is a 1994 470, is £250 a good price?? - there are 1 or 2 chips around the edge of the body, which is pretty typical of most used Ibbys ive seen!

Sounds very much like an RG-570CTTB. That small square plate on the back is for the flush-mount output jack, not active pickups.

that's the guitar, it seems, but the photos are very blurry

250GBP would be a good price if it plays well.

those first two pics look identical! it is missing its vol and tone knobs, so dont know what they were originally!

a quick bit of reading around shows that its a fake flamed maple top (just a paint job??).

any specs on this, as google defo isnt my friend on this one!

It's a veneer top, and the specs can be found at Ibanez Wiki.

before you buy it, be sure to post some pics of it here....... It really does sound like an RG570CT like AB posted..... but there ARE other possibilities that are worth much less (I.E. 1995 RG380F RBS with a resoncast body flamed gravure veneer and a TRS101 bridge)

the only problem is if i dnt buy it there and then, then ive gotta wait another 2 weeks, and i dont want somebody snapping this one up! (570s are rare enuf in the UK, especially at this kinda price!)

i bow to your superior knowledge! and once again, thank you for piece of mind. as with many others, i have no issue paying the money, as long as the item is worth the money!

and, just out of interest, how can you be so sure that its the 570 and not the 380? what is it about it that gives it away?

the TREM is definitely an Edge Lo Pro and not a TRS 101

I would absolutely buy that guitar!! The 570 CT is not exactly easy to find these days and the price of £250 ($410 USD) is VERY good!!!!

I just purchased an rg570, and I must I REALLY enjoy its neck. Quite a good guitar. That one is GORGEOUS btw.
