Help with my Ibanez Edge Pro bridge?

when i put my whammy bar in the edge pro bridge on my RG2570E-VSL, i press it down and hear the click (which im supposed to).. but when its in then the volume knob comes in the way and i cant rotate it fully!!

the volume knob comes in the way of the whammy bar!!! please tell me how to do this .. i am new with edge pro but i have used edge III before a lot. in the instruction manual of the prestige it says nowhere about adjusting the height of whammy bar, but i could do it in my old rg350 with the edge III bridge...

Re: Help with my Ibanez Edge Pro bridge?

pull the volume pot and see if the shaft could be set lower. if you see some threatening off the washer, then it can be set lower. just add a washer below.
if the pot can't be set lower, i'd change the neck/body angle so that the trem would sit a bit higher (2mm is enough) without altering the action. or i would get a lower knob? or i'd try to bend the arm? you have several options...

I suspect your bridge angle is set wrong, i.e. angled too high. Can you post a pic?

Pics would go a long way to help diagnose the problem.

Re: Help with my Ibanez Edge Pro bridge?

actually its a bit too late now to post a pic.. because now i tigthened the springs a bit, and raised the action a bit... that fixed the problem but still the whammy is dead near close to hitting the knob again, but it doesn't make much of a problem anymore except for one:...

the problem remains that i needed to raise the action by A LOT. this never happened with any other floyd roses i had. the action is pretty high for a shredding standard.. i still want the lower action but i am looking for another way.. anyways ill post the new pic:

Re: Help with my Ibanez Edge Pro bridge?

Well first of all your volume and tone knobs are sitting way too high on the pots. They should nearly be touching the guitar. Second, the trem is set pretty low in the body. I can barely see the knife edge. If you had to raise it significantly to get to that point, then it must have been REALLY low before that.

My guess is that your real problem is the neck huge a huge amount of relief in it and someone dropped the trem way down to try to compensate for high action at the upper frets. Check your neck relief and I bet you'll find that you need to tighten down the truss rod to get it set properly. Also check the nut height, it's almost certainly too high as well. Once you get the neck setup correctly, you'll probably be able to raise the bridge and combined with getting the knobs mounted right, I think your problem should go away. Click on the Ibanez Rules banner at the top of the page and go to the tech section there is you want to see a good tutorial on setting up the guitar.

but wait if the thing i want to do is raise the bridge and still have a low action, then won't i need the neck to curve upwards and therefore be loosening the truss rod? or do i need to tighten it for some reason??

nope, that case you want to change the neck/body angle by putting a shim onto the joint. a 0.5mm thick shim is enough.

(the schemes below are deliberately exaggerated for better comprehensibility)

Yep. A credit card or some cardboard will do the trick.

Re: Help with my Ibanez Edge Pro bridge?

Check your neck first, then look at shimming the neck if the trem is still too low.

I'd say that's a bit excessive height wise, don't you think?

Re: Help with my Ibanez Edge Pro bridge?

The Tone/volume knobs do look way too high, they need to be lowered.
