Keep the 770DX, it's a better guitar!

oh wow... those are quite rare birds....

If I didn't have one already I would buy it from you...

As far as price I have seen them go for $350-$800 USD in good condition.

YMMV...

Keep the RG770DX, you won't find another as they're quite rare! and its much better than Jem505!!!

Those old RG770DX guitars are great!
I have an old RG770DX in Blue.
The flame maple fretboard is so sweet on mine!

In what way is it much better than a 505? Are you confusing the Japanese Prestige Jem505 and the older Korean/Indonesian Jem555?

Regardless, they are different guitars. I would personally prefer the 505 hands down due to the 5 piece Prestige Jem carve neck. They are both Japanese made guitars, both basswood, so I suppose you can consider that a wash.

The thing is that the 505 will be less likely (in my opinion only) to go up in value as it was a 'cheaper' Jem, although it is a maple boarded Japanese Jem so it was the first since the DYs were discontinued. The 770 will remain a more upscale RG, with the bound neck and shark fin inlays and such, so that should be something you take into consideration. For example, the RG might be worth 650-700 now, and the 505 more like 900, but the RG may be worth over a grand in 5 years the way they keep going up and there's no way to tell with the Jem.

Play the Jem and if you have to have it go for it. If you play it and they are both pretty much the same in your hand then I would keep the RG. In a perfect world I would save up for the Jem and let that RG grow in value.

Just so you are aware, I have a 505 and I like it A LOT so I may be biased, but I have owned plenty of RG 7xx guitars over the years as well.

Re: Help with price range-Ibanez RG770DX

Thanx to all,and yes its just I never have chance to play any Jem,not including 555 but I dont consider that as Jem, 505 is close to Jem that I can afford if I sell my RG.She is really beat up over years but functioning brutally fine I recorded a quick video and put it on youtube you can check it out here:

"It seems I can not yet post links but if you type in youtube:"Ibanez RG770DX VM " or author:alucardearl666 you can find it "

Please dont mind playing its just to demonstrate a few sounds, and I know I have mistakes If all goes well I will choose over Jem 505 or Charvel Model 6 because its another guitar that I want for a long time.Sorry for my english Im from Serbia and I tried my best Cheers to all and keep rocking \m/

Re: Help with price range-Ibanez RG770DX

For some reason I couldn't see your pics before, but can see them now. I think there is a very strong possibility that if that RG is in good condition and stays that way, it will only continue to go up in value.

I would still prefer to play the Jem, but I would definitely prefer to OWN that RG. That is a fairly rare one, probably one of the rarest other than the crystal paisley ones, so I would try really hard to just hold onto it and save for a Jem. If you let that RG go you WILL regret it. The value of that guitar will only go up. I would not trade that guitar for a Charvel Model 6 either, and I have owned a few of those myself as well. That's a nicer guitar if it has no neck issues. If someone offers you a Model 6 hold out for a USA Jackson Soloist - that's a better trade than the Charvel and more even.
