help recreating road flare red

Hey, recently i picked up a 1987 charvel model 2 from a guy for $300, it has a seymour duncan jb, and a gotoh floyd in it, and currently the guitar is painted black, however since its an 80's guitar im going to give it a bright paint job. im thinking road flare red, it looks very nice on the web, however never seen it in person, and i have a picture of what seems to be really close to road flare red, im trying to get it exact, so anyone that has a guitar in road flare red can you help be get the colour exact?

Re: help recreating road flare red

FYI this red looks different on different monitors unless they are calibrated.

Re: help recreating road flare red

also that will not work unless everything is calibrated , the printed picture will probably already off. Ask Rick from Guitar Guru maybe he can give you the right color name and value or maybe a pantone book

Re: help recreating road flare red

Isn't RFR one of those flip flop colors that shifts from a pinkish red to a sort of 'dayglo hot orange'?

Re: help recreating road flare red

Here are the photos I took when I first got my RG550MXXRF:

Here's the RG in its case on my rug (with red, orange, and pink):

Here's a group shot with a bright flash setting:

And with a lower flash:

The Road Flare Red is very hard to photograph. In full-spectrum light it looks orange, like a traffic cone. In more subdued light the red shows up more. The bottom photo is the closest I can get to the true color.

Peace

Mike

No, not really, it's not a true flip-flop where the color changes with the angle at which you observe it. It's more dependent on different light conditions. See above.

Re: help recreating road flare red

Oh I see. I've only seen pictures, now I have to see one in person.

Re: help recreating road flare red

How about House of Kolor SG104 euro orange or NE504 red neon? Some other close ones here, http://www.houseofkolor.com/speedsha...es_shimrin.jsp

Re: help recreating road flare red

That colour square you have made is very close to RFR from where I'm sitting. Remember the RFR is a neon. Your painter would need to make sure they are spraying for neon and not a flat colour otherwise you won't get the spectrum of colour change like you can see in the photos posted further down.
