Question Help with RG Genesis

Hey guys I got my RG550 a couple weeks ago and now i want to fully clean it, this is my first maple fretboard guitar but i know that on gloss maple fretboards like fender i have to use the same liquid that i use on the body. How do you clean your RG550's?

Re: Help with RG Genesis

i use a damp micro fiber cloth to clean
now that i think of it i may try dampening with some lemon oil
but micro fiber works great

Toothbrush for the board, t-shirt for the rest.

I use mild detergent & damp cloth, then another damp cloth to remove any sticky detergent residue. There are lemon oil conditioners you can use, just be sure to read the label. It'll tell you if it's safe for maple.

Red face Re: Help with RG Genesis

Thanks a lot! I have a Proline Lemon Oil that appears to work on maple!

Re: Help with RG Genesis

Maple fretboards are pretty easy to care for since theyre usually sealed. Microfiber cloth should be perfect.

Re: Help with RG Genesis

Just microfibre "magic" cloth. No need to start introducing chemicals or lemon to a sealed fretboard. In fact the microfibre will clean the rest of the guitar too, unless it is unsealed wood.

Re: Help with RG Genesis

As its coated just like the body your normal guitar polish or Mr. Sheen or whatever you use will be OK. That's what I do on my Jackson's maple 'board. No everyone likes the feeling of the polish though so you may just want to wipe it with a plain cloth. Up to you. Microfibre cloths all the way!
