Herman Li's S470/S670 - stock?

I stumbled across the videos of Herman Li - I didn't realise he used to play S470/S670s. Were they stock (apart from the pickups)? Any mods to the ZR? I presume they were also made in Korea/Indonesia? I'm surprised - I assumed he played something more upmarket before he got his signature. THough thinking about it that probably means his signature guitar was based on the S. Must check that out. And what year were his Ss and which neck?

1. Show us the video.
2. Any guitar player can play any kind of guitar.
3. I don't think he cares about where the guitar was made from, just as long as its playable.

I thought his main guitar was a 540. With an edge on it? Looked like it.

Hm.. yeah... seems to be a mid-90s S470 with a LO-TRS II trem. Thats pretty interesting since most people say that the LO TRS II is garbage and yet Herman has had that same guitar for 10 years and he does a lot of outrageous stuff on the guitar with the trem.

Oh so it's not the ZR. Interesting. Thanks.

I was under the impression that he had a couple of them, with at least one that had the ZR as its his favourite Trem. But yea he only ever used lower end S's

Herman's a member here so if you're lucky he might drop by and answer this himself

That tired old S470 is still Herman's number one.

I know this post is VERY old, but I wanted to give more information. Mid '90 S470 MIJ had LO-TRS which is not the same as LO-TRSII. This is the BEST source https://twitter.com/hermanli_/status/337334966507675648 I always thought he changed the bridge for some edge but in the picture yo can clearly see the LO-TRS. I have one from '97 in black.

Herman's signature IS based on the S series. His whammy stuff requires something as light as an S or else you'll get this (watch what happens to Nina's RG when she tries just holding the arm like Herman):

I never thought about that. I saw them on TV once and it makes sense to use a screw in trem for all the times he lifts the guitar with the bar alone and shakes it.
I used a JS100 a lot live in the 90's and it had a Lo-TRS II. Not horrid if you work on it a lot (or have a good guitar tech) but I dig the Edge / Edge Pro much better.

In a Geargods video, Herman talks about having a bolt fed through the edge zero's intonation tool hole, that sets the max pull up on the bridge, which might add some stability. He's also admitted to dropping his guitars a ton as well! haha

He also took his guitar into a pool on 70,000 tons of metal earlier this year

Also, he snapped the headstock across the logo earlier this year or last year and had his tech glue it back together
