Thanks for all the comments. I love both guitars (RG8470 and RG8670), I usually play les paul's but find these much more versatile sound wise. The necks are really easy to play - I dont think the RG8670 has the 'velvet touch' finish - but I don't think it makes that much difference.

The question about how mahogany sounds - to be honest I dont really know if it makes that much difference when plugged in. They do though seem to sound louder unplugged though compared to RG550's I've played.

I bought the RG8470 in this thread around a year ago, I didnt buy it via this site (the bay again) and when I read this thread afterwards, was surprised that the serial numbers matched. Dont suppose there are that many j-customs in the uk though.
