Re: Holy cow

Looks nice and all, but for that kind of money I could have a custom 7 string built.

Re: Holy cow

WTF is that thing? ibanez dosnt have a custom shop (any more) so how could that thing exist? It looks like a fake ibanez because is made of korina wood, has locking spezels, has extra controls, no scarf joint (which was only everything execept prestiges), has a gotoh bridge and look at the serial number on the back, since when has ibanez used stickers instead of decals or engravings? Also either the guys made a big description mistake or hes lyinhg cause first he says 'Gotoh 6 string whammy' then he says 'Custom fixed 7 string bridge '.

Ibanez does have a custom shop, but it only caters to endorsing artists. As for the wood, sperzels extra control, its no suprise cpnsidering it's a custom. As for the scarf joint, one such Prestige level instrument that doesn't have it is the JS. Although it does raise my eyebrow when it comes to the Gotoh whammy and Custom fixed bridge mistake.

Re: Holy cow

Oh yeah of course i forogt about the custom shop for the endoorses. Nah i meant that at the time that guitar was built, only the prestiges had the multi piece necks (ie no scarf joint) but now so do the JEMs, JSs, RGA, prestiges and some others i think.

Re: Holy cow

This seems to be David Fiuczynski's guitar, since the seller's name is "lianamber", and as far as I know she is his wife. The location would also make sense, since "Fuze" teaches at Berklee these days. And yes, he is/was an endorser so this should be a genuine custom shop axe.

Re: Holy cow

Oh, and that can only be "Fuze" on these clips, nobody else plays like this.

Re: Holy cow

The bridge makes sense as it's a six string whammy, with a fixed saddle on the 7th string. You see it clearly in the pics. Have never heard about this Fuze guy, but will soon.

Just out of curiosity, who's going to build you a custom 7 string for $1,200?

He hasn't done a very good job of describing the bridge setup, but I believe this is the same custom setup that Matte Henderson (a friend of Fuze) uses on his 7-strings, where the bridge for the low string is actually a seperate unit from the trem so that whammy action only moves the 6 primary strings and not the low string.

Jim's right; for that kind of money you can't even touch a used 7VWH. It should be better described, but it looks pretty good to me.

The guitar won't necessarily sell for that price. That's just the opening bid. And since it's "evilbay" people won't bother bidding on it until the time limit starts winding down.

Probably so, but it's going to have to go a long way befor it get's into custom 7-string territory. A 7-string with a trem from us these day is about $2700-$3000 depending on the top.
