How to clean the maple binding?

Hi everybody!!

I love my 8470 BX, its a great guitar and I like the maple binding on the fretboard...

But mine is 9 months old and the binding starts to look a bit dirty...
Impossible to clean it properly... with lemon oil or with cleaner...

I think that with time it is going to become less gorgeous that it was when it was new..

Any 8470 owner with the same problem??
The abalone binding on my 8320 is still great

Re: How to clean the maple binding?

The finish is very thin on the edges and once it wears and the wood is exposed and discoloured you're in trouble. Anything abrasive will make it worse. Just keep it as clean as poss at all times, maybe something like carnauba wax will help preserve the thin finish where it hasn't worn through already.

Re: How to clean the maple binding?

yeah i had the same problem. moreover i have sweaty palm, and the binding is already turning dark after just a few usage.

mine is only a few weeks old!

would really appreciate if someone can help out. anyway to preserve the wood?

will the finishing really wear off so easily? or will it really wear off? if it is so, why would they want to do this in such a high end model?

Re: How to clean the maple binding?

HI

Use wood bleach from a craft supplies place
That will clean the wood back up
THEN, apply some more finish - wax or oil, to seal it
