How hard is it to put DiMarzio pickups into a Carvin guitar?

I heard some routing is needed to fit DiMarzio pickups into a Carvin guitar. Is this true? How much routing is needed and where?

Body mount pickups on rear routed Carvins with need to have about 3/16" routed in the existing hole,,just opens it up and gives a little wiggle room. But yeah,,,, routing would have to occure. I suggest a luthier.

Couldnt you just reshape the pickups? Ive had to do this before it would seem easier than messing with the body routing and this way you could more easily revert back to spec when selling the guitar

Is it just for body (as in "direct to wood") mounted pickups, or for pickup ring mounted too? Also, how about just reshaping the pickup like Sniperfrommars suggested? Is this possible?

I have done it before on other guitar designs using a dremel to file the shape of the pickup mounting plate down. I assume this will only apply to direct to wood mounted guitars though so if you have one with rings around the pickups then your likely good to go,

I posed that exact same question to carvin and Dimarzio. They both "Cringed" when I mentioned dremel to the pickups. Obviously your call. Wouldn't suggest it. Route the body out, and and seal the wood with black non conductive paint and your up running.
