Limited to the numbers they could sell. Really, I have no idea, but they are not rare/collectable for their low production numbers.

not so limited in asia, 550ltd was regular product for asian market from 93-99. But if you live in US, it's different story.

I've always thought that the LTD designation meant a bound neck and sharktooth inlays (the 7xx series being the exception here).

Bound means there is some kind of binding around the fretboard (anywhere from plastic to pearloid, and more traditional wood) A lot of people, including myself prefer a bound fretboard for a cleaner look. Basically all about preference.

I have one and they're very good! love the binding, matching headstock aanj etc...

a really cool guitar, and if you look around a bit, you'll definatly find one, although i have no idea how much were made, i think they were made for just a few years. mine from '94...
