How lovely is the new Flametop RG-thru?

I'm not even a neck-thru man but I'd be prepared to part with the cash for that lovely finish and overall look...

It's not my cuppa tea. Don't like the inlays, tired of blue guitars, tired of flamed tops, don't like pickup rings or Wizard II. Too many guitars look the same / similar. To top it off, the Korean build doesn't inspire confidence, though I'm sure there are plenty of good ones around, I'll stick with MIJ.

IMHO.....

Bound fingerboard = cool
Matching headstock colour = cool
5 piece neck = cool
Inlays = cool
Through neck = cool

But...

Boring blue = uncool
What flame ? = uncool
INF pickups = uncool
Glossy back of neck finish = uncool
Edge 3 bridge = uncool

£489 + Delivery, You're having a laugh aren't you ?

That's the reason I don't opt for most thru-necks unless they're satin finished. However, I don't rule out the possibility of trying one in case it turns out not to be so bad. The feel of an RG320 neck I found terrible, so usually the natural satin necks aren't much better! RG370 neck was alright though, for some reason if they have binding they don't feel so damn dry...

Pricing wise though, I do agree with you.

Re: How lovely is the new Flametop RG-thru?

It pisses me off that Ibanez wont make a regular ass guitar... they always have to fock it up somehow... take the RGT's for example... on first thought you're like OH AWESOME A NECKTHRU.... sweet... ok then you find out it has focking EDGE Pro 2 or 3 in it... ****.... oh but it has matching headstock... sweet... oh but it's made in korea ****!... its like they are confused or something.... why not make a focking 5 series neckthru IN JAPAN with EDGE PRO (or lo-pro really.. that'd be much better but they'll never do it) and provide GOOD PICKUPS IN IT as well..... sometimes i really hate ibanez... lol

oh and the finished neck isn't so bad..... i dont care if a neck has finish on it or not... it doesn't affect me

Sure, they don't have a 'focking 5' in their name, but... ?

Anyway, NeglectedField - that's not lovely... THIS is lovely:

The only real downside with S series are having middle pickups. I have an S270 at home (now my dad's) and it just gets in the way, and it won't adjust. The S320, despite being a plain kinda finish, would be more suitable.

Also what are people's beefs with the Edge III? Both times I tried it, it felt nice enough.

How is the Edge III compared to the Edge Pro? Is it stiff? Can it flutter like the edge pro?

well what do you expect for it to be made in japan, with good pickups, and a edge pro like you asked for? So you want a Japanese made RGT that is as cheap as the korean models, well don't we all but i'm not foolish enough to say that it should happen.

the ****ing bar doesn't lock in... it has no bushings and the tolerances are crappy... they wobble in their holders... the bar looks the same on either side.... if i showed you the tip of it on the handle and the tip of it on the insert-side you'd think i was showing you the same tip.... if you havent seen one in person go check it out.. its horrible....
