How many of you think you will buy the new 770?

I think I'm going to give it a try at my sam ash. They look sooo nice. Dont know which color though.......I'd have to see them in person. I'm sure its somewhere here but does anyone know exactly how much they will be(I heard it will be a bit more expensive than the RG550), and also when you can pre-order them? Thanks!
EDIT: Sorry I don't know if this should be in this forum or the Prestige one. Sorry mods if you have to move it.

Re: How many of you think you will buy the new 770?

I'd buy one but unfortunately I doubt I'll be able to get the money together. I always wanted to own a 770DX in either blue or red, although I'd probably end up with the blue as Ruby Red is just a little too dark for my taste (I like Road Flare, Lipstick Red, the brighter shades).

770DX in Road Flare = YUM!

I have both colors, but both mine are '91's. I would buy one in a minute if they released the purple one. I will play one for sure, but don't know for sure if I can afford it.

Re: How many of you think you will buy the new 770?

GuitarEvan - they are not Prestige models, so this is the right place. List is $1733, which is over $500 more than the 550 re-issue was ($1200 list). I've always loved the blue 770DX, but it's got two features that caused me to sell my DY 550XX - original neck joint and the Edge. I could have adjusted to the Edge (but prefer the lo-pro), but the neck joint just doesn't jive with my little sausages -lol.

Now that it's up on the Ibanez site, it's weird that they keep referring to 1987 for these, as they didn't come out until 1991. ???

I really want the red one. People have told me that places are taking pre orders but I can not find anyone who is.
I am really nervous because I really do want one.

Is Rich gonna stock any of these? I thought they were only available in the UK?

Re: How many of you think you will buy the new 770?

I saw them this weekend and honestly, I wasn't very impressed. The wood they were using for the neck just felt strange... a bit flimsy. Like really cheapo Maple that feels more like pressed foam than wood. I'm not a fan of the sharktooth inlays they have on them either. I didn't get to hear them, so I can only go on asthetics. But yeah... I think I'd rather have an older one that has aged nicely.

Re: How many of you think you will buy the new 770?

Still have my 91 plate original with direct mount pickups and a lo-pro edge trem. I thought about getting the new one which is probably a much better built guitar, but then decided that "old skool is where it's at dawg".

Well probably I thought something a little more British than that - but you get te idea

Re: How many of you think you will buy the new 770?

Info is very sketchy.

I've spoken to my dealer today, who has spoken directly to the UK distributor. He's been told it's primarily a US deal - they're running the show. The UK will maybe get 6 of each colour. The distributor was unsure where the 25 quoted by Andertons came from.

If any come to the UK, I have my name against an LB and an RR.

There are a couple of inconsistencies with the reissue from what I can see:

* Literature on the Ibanez website refers to 1987, but the RG770DX didn't come out until 1991. I think they must be referring to the 1987 neck profile?
* Direct mount pickups are on the reissue, these didn't come out until the 1992 model year, although this is a distinct feature of the '92/'93 RG770DXs

However, they have got Cosmic Black hardware

I'm a little unsure as to why they've released these now, cashing in on the RG20th series I guess? I hope the RG565 is reissued next year

At 1700 list, no thanks I'll have to pass. If it was an RG565 I might consider, albeit briefly.

Re: How many of you think you will buy the new 770?

Those of you who want one, and are wondering about pre-orders or dates or whatever, don't sweat the details.

As soon as Jay indicated the list on the RG550 re-issue, I realized I wanted one AND I could afford one. Went down to my dealer and told him about it. Actually, he learned about the guitar from me, and contacted his sales rep.

If you want one, just go talk to your local dealer. Soon. If you say, "I want one and I'm willing to put down a deposit to secure one," it wil get the ball rolling.

Re: How many of you think you will buy the new 770?

I am taking preorders of course.

They're making 500 of each, 250 to the US. There will be plenty to share around the world, but of course the US will get the lions share.
