How are the new RG3xx pickups? (INF3 & INF4)

I'm thinking about buying the new RG321 and I'd like to know if the new pickups are good enough so I wouldn't need to replace them.
Have you got any experience with these new INF pickups?
Another question, how can I make the pickups direct-mounted on a guitar that normally has ring-mounted pickups? I know Petrucci did it when he still played Ibanez. Does the sustain improve after that mod?
Btw, how are the bridge, tuners and nut in RG321? Does it stay in tune? Would there be any reason to change the nut?
Thanks

The RG321 is an excellent guitar in my opinion for the price. The infinity pickups are decent stock pickups...a little trebly at times, but really good for playing rock and metal (a HUUUGE step up from the crappy powersound pickups they used to use). But if you're a very discriminating guitarist and you already know a great deal about pickups and the sound that you want, then you may end up changing them in the long run but even that is easily done. With the guitar being as inexpensive as it is, I think it would make a nice edition to anyone's guitar collection.

The RG321 has a pretty standard bridge but it stays in tune just as well as any other fixed bridge guitar that I've played. I jammed out metal licks for like 3 hours on one in a guitar store and the tuning never even flinched.

they are actually pretty decent for a stock guitar of that level. i got a great tone from a RG320 into a crate v series with a little delay... sounded like heaven

i got this year's RG321 a few weeks ago, swapped the pickups to Duncans. the INF humbuckers are OK pickups, nothing fantastic, but could've been better in terms of midrange (a little excessive). however, they are one up against the Powersounds, definitely.

Re: How are the new RG3xx pickups? (INF3 & INF4)

I just got my RG370DX today and it has the Infinity Pickups. They don't sound nearly as good in my guitar as they do in my friend's RG321 (must be the difference in wood). Just sounds like they're either lacking something or have too much of something (or maybe both). I still need to mess around with my amp settings, though. But the bad thing about mine is that the neck humbucker pretty much just sounds flat. I don't know what the hell it sounds like, but it's not a humbucker sound. I never imagined that wood would effect the pickups THAT MUCH!!! I'm gonna have to swap them out sooner than I had planned on it...
