How rare is the 540PHH and 540PSH ?

Does anyone have any idea on the production numbers for the 540PHH and 540PSH aka the Alex Skolnick model? They were only made for two years, but how rare are they?

It is not a very common guitar, and you have to be pretty stubborn if you want one. I have known about 5 which were for sale here in Europe in the last few months and seen two for sale in Japan, else I have not seen it anywhere.

Of those 5 in Europe, 3 were black, 1 white refinished from DY, and 1 red. Only seen 1 SH (cosmitron's).
The ones in Japan had different finishes which I have not seen anywhere else. Here is one of them:

It costs 2,000,000 Yen (~$2,200), but DAMN what a finish!

While not a common guitar model, the price is not very affected by this as far as I have noted. Here in Europe it goes for the fair price of €500-600 (roughly $700-800) which is the price of a decent (but not super great) new guitar.

Would be cool to somehow find out the exact amount of PII's made, wonder if Nuno still has contact to the guy that designed them.

I know two guys that own a 540PIIHH in red (the one the GREAT Magnus Olsson tried to help me to buy..) and pink still for sale at 1200€ (!!!), another guy who owns a SH (22 frets) in flip flop purple and a last one who was selling his DY SH (22frets) for 1200€ too (!!!!!!), all in europe.
And yes, you have to be stubborn patient and faithful!

I currently have two. I got one of the Bay yesterday and I have one being refinished in original DY. They are tough to find. The one in the picture is amazing!

Damn, cosmi, €1200? That's pretty whack.

I'm probably not going to buy another one before I graduate from university and find some work (3-4 years from now), though that might change if I find the right one for the right price. I would love to buy an old corpse with dings all over it for little money and sand it down (both body and neck) just to see what it feels like.

BTW, anyone know how the switch on these models work? I think it's an YM-30.

Hey Jacob! Mine has a YM-30 which is 3way switch. Neck - neck/bridge(doesn't seem splitted)- bridge.
D'you need anything else? (wiring?)

In a related question, besides this model, did any other guitar come with the IBZ USA F3 pickup?

Cosmitron, yup, I mean wiring. Not as in how the guitar is wired right now, but which pins that connect to which in each of the positions of the switch.

EDIT: I just look a little closer on the switch online. It's not actually an Ibanez brand switch, they bought it from someone else it seems. Anyway, the pinout is super simple to read and understand, so no problem here. Will be easy to set up my EMG 89 for coil tap.
