Re: Hybrid Vai+Satch

Explain what features of which guitars you are looking for and perhaps folks will have some ideas.

Re: Hybrid Vai+Satch

The new satch JS2400 has a 24 fret neck...Take a Jem neck with a "Tree of Life" inlay...that would look different...Just one idea...

Re: Hybrid Vai+Satch

Buy a Jem neck and stick it on the JS2400... Then put brightly colour pickups in it and puke on it.

Re: Hybrid Vai+Satch

chrome dipped jem and a swirl or LNG js, may not be the most creative but i think it'd be cool.

I believe the simplest way would be using a JEM, wire a spare RG pickguard with two Dimarzio Satriani humbuckers wired like a JS, swap out the Jem Pickguard with the RG pickguard with satch pups.

Then you get the sound of a JS and are able to switch back to Jem just by refitting the original pickguard and solder the jack socket and earth.

Since Jems have 24 frets and the extra middle pickup its simpler to go from Jem to JS hybrid than the other way 'round.

Re: Hybrid Vai+Satch

Like others have said, a JS2400 with a humbucker route in the neck, a coil tap tone pot, a lions claw and monkey grip carved into it, and a replacement Jem 7vwh neck.

The pickups would be the real dilemma for me. Do you go for a Joe or Steve tone? Personally i'd go for an Evo2 in the bridge and a Paf Joe in the neck.

I think that would be one sweet guitar.

Rock on!

Edit: forgot to add, keep it white! :edit

Red face Re: Hybrid Vai+Satch

I would think a JS body and neck with a monkey grip, lions claw, middle pup, & 5 way selector would about do it. Pups would be all up to you if you wanted to do a combo of their signature pups...Maybe put a satch pup in the bridge, and vai pups for the middle and neck...

Interesting thought...
