Right then i'm looking for a new Ibanez and would like a Jem but cant justify spending all that cash on one with 3 kids in the house, unless i buy second hand and take a chance that its a tidy one.
So i'm stuck between a 1550, 1570, 2550gw or a indonesian Jem.
Any advice what would you go for?

Jem 70V if you like Jem so much.
you can spend on RG 1570 for lower cost, but at the end of the day, you will be here and looking at the pics of the jem , and wondering why not buying the jem instead.
so go for a jem if you like one.

I agree about getting a Jem rather than another Ibby. Every time I've settled for something rather than getting what I actually wanted, I was regretting it after a week. You can quite easily get a good condition, used jem for less than the price of a new Jem70v. I'd go that route unless you love the look of the 70v.

Wait till a used jem at a good price pops up: believe me, they do!

The only thing putting me off the 70V is that it is made in indonesia does it have the quality of the Japanese ones Jems and Prestige.

I like the Premium JEM. For me at least, it didnt feel alot different from the regular 7V. If you dont like the color and prefer the white one then I'd save up for it or find a used one, but if you cant afford it or dont want to wait, the premium is a good quality axe.

You arent looking hard enough, my buddy scored a green dor for 700 squiggles a bit back.

With patience you'll find a decent Jem for the right price but there's no telling how long - been there, done that.

All depends upon your needs but a Premium set up right, with a bit of care (action, fret and board conditioning, neck shim, decent strings, trem) is gonna give you a lot of pleasure... All that stuff you can do yourself to save money so I'd look for a good deal on a 70V.

Get a JEM7DBK!

Yup these seem to be the "entry level" Jem as great prices can be found on these pretty regularly. I finally got to play one of these and I loved it, just a sweet playing neck and I love the look...

That Premium Jem fu*king rules. It even has an Original Edge on it

I did, actually! One of my clients brought it to me for a setup. I didn't think there were any in my area, either.

Though I still dislike the Jem neck profile.
