I had to have it... (new radius)

These Radius models are getting fairly expensive these days, but I couldn't help myself; I HAD to have a backup. Now I'll have blueburst twins and a jewel blue. I SHOULD get a redburst one of these days if I can find a later one than a 87.

Anyone need parts? I'll probably only keep the body and bay the rest

Nice Jester. Those Emgs will get you back $125-$150. Is your other blueburst this same body style or is it the '87 style? For that matter, how about some pictures?

Re: I had to have it...

I'll post pics when I get the new one. Here's my current baby:

It's also a 91. I've had a couple 87's (including a redburst), but much prefer the 91.

I like the Radius series too, they are nice. I wish they'd make a 7-string Radius.

Is that a Carvin neck in the second pic? I love the block inlays--very cool.

Yes, it is! I have a new one waiting for the new body as well. I need to sand the profile down just a tad, drill the mounting holes, and sand the neck to fit the pocket. Stainless frets on these Carvins, BTW.

Here's my Jewel Blue, also sporting a Carvin neck.

BTW guys, sorry about the "chad" in the title - nothing meant by it; I was so excited I lost control of my typing hands...

When I saw the subject, I thought that maybe you were from Florida.

How brilliant: 'they're getting scarce but I need to have another one' & 'I'll strip one down for parts and bay the rest' in one post. You guys are really asking for it...

A guitar is a tool. It's scarce because IBZ made that body style in that color for ONE YEAR. Then they wrecked the radius altogether so all the Satch wannabes could have "his" axe in one of 3 lame colors (in the US that is; I admit the BTB rocks). I refuse to not have my axe just as I like it because that messes with peoples' idea of "collectibility". Were I rich (well financed, I mean, not a particular Jemsite sponsor ) I would have a few bodies made & painted so the originals could all be kept under glass. But since that's likely $500 per body, and since my luthier experience thus far has been iffy...NAH. I'll buy & part them.

Wanna buy a radius neck?

Re: I chad to have it...

Mild disapproval, apparently.

(Jester-contact me about that neck) I usually go the other way. I like to get parts and then reassemble them. The way I see it, any factory Ibanez Radius/Saber/Power neck is rotatable to any R/S/P body. They're all factory necks made by the same group of people for the same purpose. RG necks are the same way IMO. I personally don't like to see the Carvin or other neck on a Radius but that's just because I like the look of a factory neck on these things. I went through a phase where I had different "non-factory" necks on some of my Ibanez'. Then I figured I like the feel and fretwork on Japanese Ibanez' anyway, why not use other guitars for all my cool non-Ibanez necks.

Re: I chad to have it...

It's here, and it's NICE. Definitely "excellent" condition - only pick marks on the face and a couple very small dings on the back. No finish cracks. Minty black Lo-Pro (gotta get me a Cosmo Edge now...). Flat frets, which is odd considering how perfect the rest of it is. But not much in the way of "dents" - more like uniform flatness. I don't think it's wear; I think they were levelled and not well crowned. I had a brand new sabre neck like that back in the day.

Well packed, too. Double boxed, well wrapped, with the trem arm in an envelope taped to the outside of the inner box. This guy's done this before. :-)
