Re: I did it. I've betrayed Ibanez!!!

I got my Custom 22 10 years ago, and it's funny... it doesn't have a 10 top.

But the top on it absolutely blows away the 10 tops they stamp on their guitars now.

When I got it, they guys were like "Man, your top looks better that most of the 10 tops we see around here..." Maybe it was some type of error, but the top is absolutely killer.

And the pickups sound great. They are not the chrome covered ones, they are the original Dragon I's, and in my opinion these pickups sound a hell of a lot better than the Dragon II's.

As a matter of fact, I don't even think mine is bookmatched, I think it is just one solid piece of maple on top.

I've read and heard similar remarks like that. It seems that at PRS they don't care about aesthetics that much nowadays...they purportedly sort the wood on being figured, period. A negative side effect of mass production and demand being what it is (sold out for the rest of the year already I've heard...I know a shop with 20 new PRSs hanging around, none about to be sold, which makes you wonder)

Calling a SZ520 a toy compared to a PRS is hilarious...why not compare a Michael Kelly guitar too? You can buy 5-15 SZ520s for the price of one PRS. Luckily for PRS some of that money actually finds its way back into the guitar Compare that to a recent Gibson Les Paul lol. I prefer neither.
