I didn't know George Benson did discount, too!

We all know if we want to go more expensive than a standard Gibson hollowbody, you can get something uber-expensive like the George Benson GB 10 or GB 300, but I didn't know (like the Ibanez Pat Metheny model), that there was something far more affordable like the Korean made George Benson GB 10-JS model.

For a used price from $900-$1300 dollars, it actually looks do-able and appears to blow away the Gibson/Epiphone hollowbodies in a similar price range. By comparison, the far less decorated Pat Metheny budget model streets for $900. Now all we need is an affordable John Scofield model. I know the hardcore MIJ Benson model 10 and model 300 fans may not see this as a premium guitar, but compared to an ES-137 or Eastman archtop or Artcore Custom, the GB JS seems to be a great deal. It's sad that they don't make them for the US market.

I never heard of the JS before.....pretty cool.

Honestly though, If I were looking for a great Jazz-box the AF200 is the only guitar I'd be looking for. Mostly the same specs as a Scofield, but a fraction of the price.

Re: I didn't know George Benson did discount, too!

Very nice guitar ^^^^. All of the Artstars and a majority of the Artcores really float my boat. I like all the signature lines, all three of them a little bit better than standard lines, but I don't know if $3,000 dollar (street) price tags are my thing for Benson and Metheny. I could easily get a nice Gibson jazz guitar even though I still think Bensons are a cut above.

The neck on a MIJ Benson is really like a hand built luthier neck, aka D'Angelico, and that puts it in its own category. But most good jazz guitar players sound just as good on an Artcore, or any sub-$1000 dollar guitar as they do on a Benson.
