I must be crazy (well crazier than normal)

I played the RG465 the other day, and loved it. Sure the Edge III isn't anything to write home about, but slap in an Edge Pro, and the guitar would be a beast.

The D-Activator Air Norton S combo was amazing, and the neck nearly perfect. Tone was fantastic, and playability amazing.

I'm actually considering going into to shop and seeing about trading my RFR 20th RG550 for it and maybe a Blackstar HTV-112 cab.

I've got an Edge Pro sitting at home too.

Am I completely crazy? My RG550s neck is so sweet, but the body is a little muddy sounding. Maybe I should try the D-Activator in the RG550.

Sorry, no amount of Indo goodness is worth that 20th RFR, IMO.
I would count to 10 and think about what you're about to do. LOL!
Cheers!

Re: I must be crazy (well crazier than normal)

If it sounds great and you can replace the Edge III like you say then why not go for it?? It's what you like that's important. You can always pick up another 550 easily enough at some point in the future.

You're crazy, man. I was very close to letting my '87 RG go but I just couldn't even though I needed the money.

How many 20th do you think are around in Australia. Not that i like the guitar all that much but doesn't sound like a good plan

Yeah I don't know. I think its just a sign how much better the Indonesian made Ibanez are now. There are not many RG20ths in Australia, I think I'll hold on to it.

I don't think your crazy just need to be medicated. Haha just do what feels right I would say, although If I had the choice I would keep the 20th.

Re: I must be crazy (well crazier than normal)

i would never do that.....
no matter how sweet the 465 is, I'd rather get some loan if I really want it badly.

Re: I must be crazy (well crazier than normal)

LP--I have to agree with the rest. Keep the 550. I've been jonesing for an RG465 since I saw the soda blue version, but would never trade a 20th RG-550 for one, let alone the 550 AND Blackstar cab. Sell the cab and whatever else you can scrounge up around the homestead and just go buy it. I've been really skeptical about the Indo Ibbies, so I'd really like to see you write a thorough review of that one...

No no, I meant trade my 550 for the 465 and a cab, maybe something else. No way in hell I'd trade the 550 and a cab for the 465!

I think I'm just really impressed with how far Indonesian Ibanez are coming.

Re: I must be crazy (well crazier than normal)

@LonePhnatom...

So the RGR465 is treating you well? Still?

I think you are not crazy. My RG350M is part of my "live rig" and sits beside my 1992 RG550 with no shame. I don't know if I've been lucky or what but the Edge III has been delivering the good without a hitch.

So, tease me... Should I get a RGR465M? These are very "rare" at the moment... I think only a few are still available here in Canada and I'm wondering if I should pull the trigger...

PS Don't trade the RG550. Keep both guitars!

I didn't actually buy the RG465. I loved it though, and if I had the money I would have bought it. My RG550 is too sweet to play, and once I find the right bridge pickup it will be perfect. I'd say I might end up with a D-Activator since I loved it in the RG465.
