Re: I need a custom guitar built in the UK

Doug at Blackmachine is not really a custom luthier, he has his own design and specs which he sticks to. If you ask him for custom work he, like me, will point you in the direction of Jonathan at Feline guitars.

I've not had a guitar built but he fret dressed and set up my VSBL and it was a quality job.

Good look, keep us informed

Darren

ran guitars are from poland, but still, they are an EXCELLENT guitar company. you wont have to pay for import tax or duty as poland is in the EU. this means that there is free trade between the UK and POLAND. awesome!

check out their new site
http://www.ranguitars.com

theres a cream colored rg on the front page!

edit: this one...

That looks great. I love the look of a fretboard without markers, nice and clean.

To be honest any decent luthier doing complete custom builds is going to charge a reasonable amount. I actually started building my own because I didn't want to pay a huge amount for relatively simple guitars. It is going fine, but it is hard and time consuming work.

If you just want a cosmetically different RG (as your pic suggests) then you would probably be better off buying a guitar complete and getting it modified and refinished. It would be alot cheaper.

But the reverse headstock? I don't see any RG's with this right now. Also I want something other than a basswood body. I'm just not feeling the (lack of) tone.

*BRING BACK THE RG565!**

I agree, though. Getting a stock guitar changed would be cheaper. Well anyway, I'll keep thinking about it. I'm putting my next dollop of cash into my new guitar (Peavey V-type), it'll need a pickup change and possibly a better bridge, so I've decided that the custom idea will go on the back burner for a while.

Re: I need a custom guitar built in the UK

just to throw the name out, legra are meant to be good. www.legraguitars.co.uk

i know a guy on the bareknuckle forums got one with a wizard style neck and said it was great. I'm looking into one myself, when I get round to it.

and gajic are meant to be great too: www.gajicguitars.com

blackmachine and feline are meant to be great too.

I know someone who has 2 Legra Guitars a PG601 that's about 6 years old and an MG602F. The 601 was only about £750 and it's great.

I have heard of BackMachine. I'll look into it.

@ Ibateur -- well, I want something like the guitar in the pic below making:

Only difference is it wouldn't have sharktooth inlays (I want a blank fretboard with a bomb design at the octave), and it'd have a reverse headstock.
To much red for me .

Regards

André
