I need help!!!!

Ok,

Ive had some trouble setting up my 7621 so I took it to a tech and even he cant get the low action I want. He has a UV777BK and has the same problem. I want to just buy a new neck. Where could I find one? It doesnt have to be a 7621 neck, just somthing slim and durable. Any suggestions?

Re: I need help!!!!

Did you try shimming the thing yet? Just how low are you trying to go?

Re: I need help!!!!

Why can't you get the action as low as you want? An actual problem with the neck, or a limitation with adjustment as jim777 suggests?

Re: I need help!!!!

Ok I have 9s on it and I have the neck pretty straight(slight bow) and the saddles are up pretty high and it still buzzes.

for example, when I look at the neck I see about the distance between the 2 dashes - - between the low B and the fretboard. and a little less on the high side. I like pretty low action, actually low as possible without buzzing actually.

Re: I need help!!!!

How low do you want the action? Unless there is something terminally wrong with the neck, or you are trying to achieve the impossible, there is nothing to stop this guitar being set up properly.

How do you get the action low with a bow in the neck??? Sounds like it needs some truss work.

Re: I need help!!!!

Ive had 2 diffrent techs work on it without success. not to mention myself, Im pretty good at setups. Ive got a EB Petrucci that I set up with amazing action as well as my RG 550 and my Jackson RR1 and my Dean Hardtail with no problems. The 7621 used to get great low action but now I cant gat it.

Re: I need help!!!!

Probably the fretwork. I have found to get ultra low action on these guitars without buzz, you need the frets crowned and polished. It's like a miracle, trust me.

Re: I need help!!!!

sounds like a neck shimming and/or truss rod issue. i am pretty good at setups, too, and that is usually an easy fix...although i don't know all the variables you are encountering.

Re: I need help!!!!

If you want a perfect set up and silly low action, and the frets are a bit dodgy, then find a tech who has a PLEK machine. I had one guitar done, and it is quite amazing how well that guitar plays.

Re: I need help!!!!

Thats a $200.00 operation! Thats a bit much. Im thinking Im going to have a new neck made. With an Ebony board, 24 jumbo frets, tungoiled birdseye maple neck and no inlays.

Im sure that will run me $300.00 or so but I think over all it will be better than any fretmod like the Pleck mod.

Re: I need help!!!!

It isn't a mod, it is fret dressing + setup done to perfection, and worth it.
