I never knew Ibanez made these!

I saw a Prestige SZ2020EX on ebay today... I thought Ibanez only made the SZ320, 520, and 720!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-Prest...item27ead14b82

Did they make any other Prestige SZ models? Not really a fan of the flat finishes like the one in the link.

Dang... just when I was semi-content with the few guitars I have. The SZ320 is just so sweet to play, makes me want a Prestige model SZ!

Re: I never knew Ibanez made these!

Don't get too excited, it is a Korean Prestige like the S models were at the time. The typical 2020 is a flame maple, I don't remember ever seeing that so it was probably a Chesbro world market import.

Re: I never knew Ibanez made these!

Hmmm... Is a Korean Prestige model much better than the standard Korean SZ? I have to say that I like the SZ320 very much and the quality of the build is fantastic, especially considering the price. But for $900 "buy it now" a feller could get a pretty nice MIJ Ibanez.

You have the fortunate vantage point of the low expectations many of us share. Rich has had the best of the best in his hands and on his bench (couch). Anything Korean and very little Chinese guitars have ever made "the grade" for Rich, AFAIK. That said, You wouldn't ever catch me spending anywhere near $900 on any MIK Ibanez. You kinda get your money's worth with the SZ320 and 520....... after that, your spending more money with no extra return.

Never played with a Korean Ibanez, but I'd defer to Rich's experience here, for sure.
I've read some members talk about how good their Indo Ibanez guitars are (both Premium and the 'bottom feeder' lines) but the one RG350 I had in my hands really left me flat. I can't imagine the Korean guitars being much better, especially wouldn't pay $900 for it when you can get a brand new Made in Japan Ibanez for about the same money, or just a little more. Or, if shopping used, a REALLY high end Prestige for around that....but, I'm jaded as well, I guess. My RG1550 is amazing and the RG550 I have, though beat up, is maybe the best guitar I've ever picked up. (got that one for a song, by the way )

Let Rich spend a couple of hours on an MII bottom feeder for 'ya. Your 1550 will start gathering a lot of dust.

Re: I never knew Ibanez made these!

Oh, I'm sure he could make it a wonderful player, but unless he refinished it and did something about the excessively flexible neck, I still don't think I'd fall in love with it.
Lots of paint-splatter in the cavities, and all I had to do was pull back the slightest bit on the neck to pull it sharp, or push flat. My Ibbies, and Jeff's Strat take a lot more effort to naotice anything like that. I think the necks are just made of more stable wood.
I know they all do that to some degree, but like I said, it was too easy on the 350, and I know everything was tight; I did the setup.

Amateurs, you didn't sprinkle a little Viagra on the truss rod.

Re: I never knew Ibanez made these!

Oops. Don't have any, don't need any....or I should say; Jeff doesn't need any.
Maybe when he's in his 50's that will change, but for now........oh yeah, I'm going to Hell.

Re: I never knew Ibanez made these!

No trying to start an argument but there's no way a 3-piece maple neck is less stable that a one piece 550 neck. A strat neck is much thicker so I can see it being more stable. Neck dive is the norm on every Ibanez simply because of the thin necks they use. It's always worse on a one piece neck.
