i think my rg7420 is a 7620...

i bought a used "rg7420" off of ebay for a scant $250+30 shipping, a few months ago, and lately i've been thinking it might be a 7620...
my rationale:
-it is black, not black pearl, all the 7420's i've seen have been black pearl or magenta crush
-the polepieces are individually adjustable w/ allen keys
-the serial number starts with f98--which means it was made in 98 right? and 7420's weren't made until later...right?
-i think it may be the lo-pro, but how would i tell?
one other question...
-did the 7620's have a bubinga skunk stripe in the neck? because this guitar doesn't...

thanks for any help in solving this mystery!

seems to be a 7620...
just a couple questions:

- any writings on the pickups? V7, V8 ecc?
- is the the arm insert plug-type or screw-in type?

anyway,
if you can't tell what trem is on, this means that there's not Lo-TRSII written on the baseplate, hence it's a Lo-Pro7.
then that might be a 7620. CONGRATS! a 7620 for 250 bucks? wow!
any pics?

7420s were not available in 98 and your neck is probably the same profile as a UV neck to boot.

You have a 7620 unless someone swapped necks...you could pull the neck off and read the stamp in the neck pocket and on the neck itself, should read "RG7-620"

Congrats...I just got one too for $270.

Your serial number proves it, the RG7420 was produced in 2000 and after (according to jemsite).

Easy way to see if you have a Egde Floyd Rose, open the spring cavity... Check the floyd, on the front of the long metal piece where the springs are being hold

If you can read Edge somewhere on it(like on the pic above) you have a RG7620... )

Congratz, man you got a hell of a deal!!!

Rock on... BTW i just got a RG7620 too!!!

There is no such bridge as a TRSII for a seven string. It would be a LoTRS7.

The RG7420 was available in black to certain markets. Going by the s/n, your guitar would be a 7620. I agree that it is a fine guitar. I own three.

Cheers,
Butch

yep, the trem has the edge logo on it. man i thought i got a good deal before, when i thought it was a 7420!! that is awesome. i really love it! took awhile to get used to it, but now i play it more than my parker. yep, i'll definitely have to get a uv777, this 7 string thing has definitly taken hold...

thanks for all the great info!!!

Dammit, these stupid e-bay sellers... I'm probably going to get rid of my 7620 after the 2027 shows up, and if prices continue to go this low... And the kicker is, i paid $750 for mine, not $450; picked it up a couple months before they went on clearance, because i figured they couldn't get any lower. Typical.

On a related note, think $500 including shipping (continental US) is a reasonable price to ask for a '99 7620 with the UV neck profile (sanded, of course) and an Air Norton/Tone Zone pickup set? with a (used) case available for another $50 (what it'd cost me). Body condition is Ex, neck is flawless aside from light fretwear and the aforementioned sanding. I mean, i want a good price, but i don't want to rip anyone off here... Harmony central, maybe, but not here.

If you elect to put the original pups back in, I'll buy the TZ and Air Norton from you separately.
