I tried a PRS today... - And guess what?
I went into Sound Control today as my guitar was being operated on and tried out several guitars. The first was a Yamaha Pacifica (24 fret model with their take on a Floyd), the second an Ibanez RG570 (cyberpink with shark-tooth inlays) and a PRS custom 22.
I went in there orginally to test out the DSL50 from Marshall, but would up on a TSL122 (you know how it goes). I played the Pacifica first and I didn't like its neck very much - not like my old Pacifica at all (duh). I then tried the RG and found its neck to be very comfortable - just like my Pacifica, which is a good thing in my book. While I was talking with the guy (Glen, for all you who've been in there), I mentioned I had neve tried a PRS so he went and got one for me...
To answer all those people who said you can't shred on a PRS or they don't have harmonics, that's rubbish. I found the neck was very similar to the EB/MM Axis they have there and found I could play faster and more accurately on the PRS than the RG. Shredding was quite fun, actually. Harmonics were quite hard to find, to be honest, but they are there - not trying to get out of the pickups like an Evo, but they do work on a PRS. The bridge pickup wasn't exactly my taste, though.
Would I pay £2199 for it? No. I'd get the EB/MM Axis first. I don't like painted necks. And no, Jono, I didn't try the DNA. LOL!
Sorry, I should keep away from these incoherent rambling posts...
