i want to lock down my edge zero

Hi

I own 2 RG prestige guitars, both fitted with edge-zero tremolo. I was thinking of locking down the trem on one of them (either just enable dive, or all together).

Does anyone know any resources (with picks) of doing this? The edge zero is out on the market for some time and I still can't find info on set up and stuff for it anywhere. I don't know if gadgets like tremol-no (and the ibanez/esp alternatives) work on it.

Being my second guitar, I mostly want to lock the trem down so I can experiment with different tunings (low, open, dropped, etc). Noticed the gotoh tuners hold the guitar in tune pretty well even with the nut unlocked.

Thanks!

Whatever you do, do not buy Tremol-No. Few pieces of wood will also work...

Sorry about the necro-bump. But whats up with all of the T-no hate?!?!? It seems to be really divided into folks that either love 'em or hate 'em!

Re: i want to lock down my edge zero

talk about necro...
the T-no, to my understanding, was designed around Floyd-based systems that can handle 3 - 5 springs using a spring claw; It has no purpose [nor a method] for installing one in a EZ, which only has 2 springs and a thumb wheel to counter the string tension. I personally haven't used 'em nor have the desire... I dig my flutter :P
In other words, go with the wooden block(s) between method

Necro?!?!? Nah--it's less than a year old. I just saw a 10-year old thread get bumped a few weeks ago, and a 5-year old classified ad get bumped two days ago.

Re: i want to lock down my edge zero

I hated the Tremol-No. Even if they made one for the EZ, it's too flimsy. I used mine for two days and had nothing but tuning problems. The little clamp and set screw for the block is so small that it can't grip it enough. Mine kept getting jammed at an angle and pushed the block forward. Stay away!

What I would like to see is a further development of the EZ (and why not the ZR too...): built in locking mechanism and backstop.

When the EZ first came out I thought it could do that. You are 200% correct DJ. It seems so obvious, why hasn't it happened yet?
