I just fell in love with the Tosin Abasi signature model! It's so different and fresh. And the J Custom eight's... Pure win! Way to go Ibanez!

And as always, Rich didn't let us down with he's great pics and NAMM report
Where is his 2013 NAMM report, I see all the other previous years?

That being said, back when some MIJ signature stuff was affordable, I got an Allan Holdsworth AH-10 but anymore, the vast majority of sig stuff is way out of reach.

Oooo! The IC500 IS neck-thru, 24 frets AND *almost* 25.5" scale; 25.24".
The volume controls are also more RG-ish. Perfect!

Totally understand that. Right now, I'm thinking of getting one more MIJ (RG3250MZ FOR) but at that cost, it's gonna hit me hard in the wallet :/ If only Hoshino would release some strange colors in their standard lines, I probably would buy those and just change pups. I think the only Sigs I would even consider buying are Sam totman's iceman or Herman's EGEN. I've played JEMs and while I like em alot, just not my thing.

When I looked at the NAMM report on Ibanez's Japanese site and I saw no sign of the RG450 Aqua, I got annoyed because it looks like a nice guitar for the price with the W3 neck and all. I'd buy it if Ibanez would just release the damn thing.

Speaking of what's coming over here, starting at the beginning of February, they are gonna start releasing the Iron Label line.

Typically Ibanez releases stuff alot later over here for everything (even though I live like maybe an hour and a half from Hoshino's main factory). Hell, we didnt even get the RG2XXV or 3XXV (only got the RG1XXV, both colors, and the S1XXV, both green and yellow). I woulda bought a 2XXV too, maybe a 3XXV, but Noooooooooo, Japan gets ignored

Being of Japanese descent, my relatives are enamored with all things American, good or not.

I would assume Ibanez has a bigger market share of entire market in USA and Europe, right?

With so many low cost Fenders (American Special series and plenty of very cheap used American Standard and Deluxe instruments flooding a flooded market) and Gibsons (Melody Makers, satin finished LPs and SGs, LP and SG Specials, etc), I don't think Ibanez would stand a chance with Premiums and upper end standard Ibanez S and RGs quite a bit more expensive than those lower priced and mid-priced American Fenders and Gibsons.

Say, if anyone would just so happens to be walking passed the Iceman 7, could you snap some back shots for me if it's not too much trouble? It would really mean a lot <3

Question for Rich or Petie, what did you think of the Iron Label quality?

Very likely made in China, hence the low cost. And if they're made in the same place that makes the Artcores, quality and value will be good.

Peace

They're Indo, and like everything Indo, just a little better than they were last year.

Re: IBANEZ 2013 (who has the inside scoop)

I noticed the Epi Casino like Ibanez Artcore ASR70 is called semi-acoustic, with pickups in sustain block for feedback elimination:

http://www.keymusic.com/en/product/I...-Vintage-Burst

This is a full hollowbody like the Casino, right?

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/u_h...&series_id=177

OK, I know some Gretsch guitars are hollow but for some wood that connects the top and back somewhere in the middle (other than the sides), but others are fully independent with a top that does not touch the back. Does the Ibanez have a true hollowbody with top and back not touching or are there columns or rods between the top and back on the ASR70 as on some Gretsches?

Structurally, even a little bit of wood in the center, like a large maple rod, does help the structure some but can dampen the true hollowbody sound. Personally, I don't care either way since when plugged in I get that low sustain jangle that solidbodies lack. Notes attack quickly and then diminish since there's no mass and that's what is so great about hollowbodies. I hope Ibanez made a true thin hollowbody here in the Casino format.

One has to add that they were already "good" last year. A few lemons among the Premium models here and there, but the overall quality was impressive, especially under consideration of the short amount of production time at the Indonesian plant. I especially like the fret jobs on the Premium models. In contrast, some of last year's models had flaws on the body such as inclusions or minor issues in the finish, rough wood finish in the tremolo compartments, etc.. Nothing that one can't deal with at this price point - in the worst case you can return the guitar to your dealer and he'll can return it to the distributor. But as Rich said, they are getting better with each model. *like*
