This could be a fun game. Try and throw out totally out there ideas to guess what this is.

TOTALLY out there idea: reissue the Voyager or WRB for 30th Anniversary of the first Winger album

Pretty out there idea: Return of the USA Custom semi-custom guitars

Kind of out there idea: stained ebony replaces rosewood on FujiGen builds as standard

Reasonable idea: neons become available on AANJ guitars

Here's an idea. Do the same guitars as the Genesis line they released in 2018... all as AANJ. Well, maybe not the RG521 as that was kind of the RG652FX not long ago.
As many great memories I have of my RG570 PN I passed on the RG550 version of it because I already have an RG20th. But an RG550PN with AANJ? I might have to pick that up!
OR do the square heel RG570 in PN come to think of it.

I'm down for all of these.
I'm still holding out for the far-from-left field idea of a Telesavalas limited run. Maybe Ibanez can send me one gratis for giving them such a great idea! (I kid, I kid....)

I think I have an idea of the "unexpected." FP2 was discontinued? Maybe FP1 will be reissued. But then I hear the cloth pattern is hard to find.

what do we have here?
Limited edition GOLD collection ...he says.

Does it mean.. this is just the beginning of a new special run from Ibanez.

We have genesis..
now we have Gold collection...

just addition : they also do TS 9 Gold.

so I think they will be more of Goldies coming around...

Wow! That looks awesome! And if the conversion is close to accurate it's affordable. I have to admit, though, those flat finishes are getting tired - and they gloss up over time where contact with your skin is frequent. Is primer and sanding that much more?
Gorgeous all the same though and checks a lot of boxes on my list.

Re: Ibanez 2019 NAMM Speculation Thread

I'm not a big fan of satin as well , except for the neck.
and for this particular guitar, the fretboard binding also turn me down.

I like binding with sharktooth, offset dots, but never with center dots.

well..that's just me.

No, it's not just you. I think it goes back to the early 90s. RG550s and 570s don't have binding on the neck. RG750s and 770s and of course the JPM100 DO have binding on the neck.

So it was written. So it shall always be.

Yes, yes and yes. LoPro is the best of all time and they need to realize how perfect they got it in the first place.

Question Re: Ibanez 2019 NAMM Speculation Thread

Is there any pattern to the release of JEM models? Do they coincide with Steve Vai's releases or activity? Obviously 10, 20, 25, and 30 year anniversary models but what about in between?

Re: Ibanez 2019 NAMM Speculation Thread

It sounds like 2019 is the year that CITES catches up with Ibanez and rosewood essentially disappears from the lineup. As I understand it, rosewood will appear ONLY on some of the high-end Satch model.

Well the guitar community spent ages saying how poor Rosewood was as a modern guitar fretboard, looks like it'll get what it was asking for. I still remember when pau ferro was a "custom option" rather than what folks used when they couldn't get the cheap-ass rosewood folks had been complaining about for years

Yeah, I'm not really sure. I would guess the return of ebony would be more likely. It's also possible that there might be a few more models that retain the rosewood.

Makes me wonder if those rosewood fretboards that have been looked down on for years will come to be more sought after in a few years. Personally, I prefer the feel and tone of rosewood.

Re: Ibanez 2019 NAMM Speculation Thread

I hope that 2019 brings some new AZ models with HSH pickup configuration. Preferably with exotic tops and no pickguards.
