Re: Ibanez ARZ-307

My background is my music is all inspired by Helmet, Meshuggah and the like. So I've been using my Ibanez SZ520 and SZ720 about 90% of the time. The SZR - I don't like. Impulse buy... never use it.

Anyways - in the market for a 7 string - and - the ARZ caught my eye. When I showed it to a friend - he asked me if it was a signature model for some guitar player - mostly because it doesn't look like a Typical Ibanez.

Anyways - with the style of music I play - and the overalll sound I like - pickups aren't really a big concern for me. I don't solo - and Usually only need 3 strings. So I don't think I will be able to really give any good feedback abut the pickups.

So - here are some pictures which compare it to the SZ520, SZ 720 and the SZR.

The ARZ is really thin (compared to the others) and also very light. The SZ'a are each 8 solid pounds. I can weigh the ARZ but I know it will be 6.

Also included pix of the cutaway on the back for the guitars so you can get a comparison...

Enjoy!

For sure. I went out today and bought some 10 - 59 strings for it..... Gimme a little time to play with it and I can let ya know how it is.

I have it tuned DOWN to F# right now. Just did some recording - and I don't even need a bass anymore

Ya. it didn't quite work out too well. too much buzzing etc....

It stays comfy at A though. so I'm not complaining.

Well. I couldn't leave the neck alone, and it's off to get some custom inlay work... Will post pix when it gets back.

If you wanna hear the guitar and u use iTunes then do a music search for DROPPED H - the album is ALLEGORY.

My music is inspired by Helmet, Scissorfight and the like.....

Hang on I have a few on Youtube... Search for DROPPED H on youtube....

Re: Ibanez ARZ-307

In the middle of getting inlay work done....

BTW My bands name is DROPPED H. Available on iTunes.

I am uploading the 2nd album to iTunes as I type this. If you want to hear this guitar, I use it in almost every new song. The album will show up on iTunes by Friday or Saturday. PRODUCTIVE MEMBER ONLY is the album. I'll post a link when it's up there. The first album that's up there is all done on the SZ520 and SZ720.

Well. After using the guitar for a while..... Again I do NOT know pickups, and I use alot of distortion on my songs...

But.What I have noticed is that they are 'thinner' sounding than the Seymour Duncans that came on my Ibanez SZ720/520.

I always use 2 guitar sounds in my songs. u know - same but different distortion settings. Was always able to switch around with the SZ's, didn't matter which was which.

But with this one I can only use 'beefier' sounding settings otherwise it's just too thin for me.

But.... with all the variables of different equipment etc etc... really... they work fine. I'm just not that picky about pickups.

SO in the end. probably not much help

But the guitar plays wicked. i Love the neck. and the clearance to the 24th fret is the best I have ever had. The heel is really great. it's a great guitar play wise.
