Ibanez color discrepancies?

In the past few months, the local Ibanez dealer has had to send back at least two Ibanez guitars because the finishes were COMPLETELY different than what's in the catalog. The first guitar was a S5470Q, which is advertised as "Wild Cherry Blossom" and the other one was the RG premium in the purple finish (whatever it's called).

The "wild cherry blossom" arrived and was COMPLETELY BRIGHT PINK. And, not like a cool pink.... but..... a really, really disgusting bright pink. The Premium wasn't AS bad, but still way different than the catalog. It was on the verge of being pink, too.

What the hell is going on with Ibanez and their finishes?

wow! Japanese S5470Q had defected paint job? That's really something going on at the QC dept.

as for Indo's RG.. I don't feel strange about it.

If you've never seen a cherry blossom, they are pink.

Re: Ibanez color discrepancies?

Rich, yeah I know.... the only thing is that the catalog doesn't show it as being pink nor does the website. At least to my eyes and to the store that sent it back to Ibanez.

By the way - I must say that you were right about something (I think it was you, anyway). The purple Premium looked way better than the blue one. I thought the quilt on the blue one sucked ass. The purple one was amazing.... the color was definitely too light (Ibanez's fault), but the quilt was beautiful.

edit....

To clarify.... the wild cherry blossom one appears to be more red than anything, not pink. That's why it was sent back.

Re: Ibanez color discrepancies?

You mean the color of the real guitar doesn't match the color on the low res photograph printed on a piece of paper?! Color me surprised! I would have never thought that possible.

Road Flare Red = impossible to photograph or even describe.
Purple Neon, the 20th "Desert Sun Yellow", Mirage Blue and Red, and a few other Ibanez finishes fall into this category I think.

Also, that RG1527 looks amazing IBZRG1527Prestige!

Red face Re: Ibanez color discrepancies?

I think the Cherry Blossom is an awesome color!! To each their own of course, but that's coming from a guy writing in purple all the time! !

Re: Ibanez color discrepancies?

I wish I could go back in time and video my wife's reaction to 602, my RG550RF, when she first stopped by my apartment. It was like a "what the hell is that?!?" kind of reaction. That's one of the best ways to describe this color I think.
