Ibanez EX appreciation thread

Anyone else have one of these? They were lower-end, $400 models about 12-13 years ago. My first guitar was an old '92 Ibanez EX. I've since heavily customized it, but what has always stuck out to me is just how massively heavy the sound of this guitar is. I have several Ibanez and ESP guitars, and this one is still the heaviest sounding guitar I have, not just that, but the sheer physical weight of the guitar is more than my 7-string guitars!

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else had owned one of these and if anyone still cared about the good ol' Ibanez EX models. I do remember the '94 EX models were terrible; 1 pickup and a big bold red EX across the headstock.

Here's a pic of my '92 Ibanez EX370. It's got a jackson knock-off neck, and the electronics are all different. The only original parts are the EX body (which I have no idea what wood it is), the single coil pickup, and the trem system, which is just a basic floyd rose. The pickups are an Air Norton in the neck, set reverse because I use extremly low string action and dont want the strings fretting against the pickup adjusters, and the bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan Blues Saraceno trembucker. This guitar has one of the best clean sounds I've ever heard and one of the heaviest rhythm sounds I've ever heard.

The shape of the guitar is fantastic too, as it's not as large as an RG, but more rounded and smooth like an S series, only not as thin. This guitar is a perfect mix of the RG and S, in my opinion.

oh, and it's signed by Mike Portnoy and John Petrucci of Dream Theater

I love the semi-curvy RG shape. They use the same shape on the Gio models now. You guys can have the rest of the guitar :P

im working on a 1989 ex 120 for a project guitar. What kind of neck was it that you used desertdweller? was it a warmoth or anything like that? the frets are pretty worn on the original neck that is on it but i dont know what to put on there other than building another one from scratch (which i don't really have the tools or time to do). im also in contemplation as to what to do with the tremolo, id like to put something else in it but i don't know what. But I do agree, the body shape is awesome on that guitar... thats most of the reason i decided to use it for a project.
