Ibanez to Fender

I've decided to convert my Gio to a Eric clapton fender.
What do i need, I mean like pickups and other things like that.

Re: Ibanez to Fender

pups are vintage noiseless Fender and EC uses the TBX with mid boost. wired traditional strat 5-way. a few things to consider. EC strats are alder. The vintage trem is blocked.

Heh, that's going to be quite a task. And as Speedy said, EC strats are alder. You're most likely never going to nail that sound with a basswood GIO. I'd start with an Xaviere strat or cheap Squier.

Re: Ibanez to Fender

Yep--the cheapest alternative is an Xaviere--they're really good, considering how inexpensive they are.

Absolutely! I was pretty impressed when I got my XV-870. Really well made and the GFS pups sound damn good.

Re: Ibanez to Fender

Bullet series is crap wood for the body. Go with the Affinity series, which is one up from the Bullet series. At least it's made of alder.

Pickup wise, someone already mentioned earlier what is in the Clapton Strat. Read through your thread again, or go look at the Fender site.

Re: Ibanez to Fender

No

There's a lot more to Clapton's sound than a Strat shaped guitar and some Noiseless pickups. Clapton had his sound long before he had a signature Strat.

Eric Clapton's tone is in your fingers.

Re: Ibanez to Fender

What you should do is, sell or trade your Gio and put a few quid for a 'Fender Strat'. Take it from there. A Jap model could be a good start if you can't go USA.

Wise man once said, "You can't shine ****." You can add gltter to a turd to make it more visually appealing but in the end it is still a turd.
