Red face Ibanez Montage...thoughts

I think it looks cool and I like the old school knobs on top...I am intrigued. I can't wait to get out and try one...

Anyone else have any thoughts on it...?

Re: Ibanez Montage...thoughts

I think they look kinda cool, but I can't have an opinion on something like that until I hear it. I think those are either Korean or Indo or Chinese, and I haven't personally been all that impressed by the hollow body/acoustics that come from those markets, with the exception of the Ibanez AF105s, I really like those and think that for those particular models they put a little more craftsmanship into them, and it shows in the price.

But, that's just me - I like the looks and would certainly give one a try if they had them at a local shop.

Re: Ibanez Montage...thoughts

"..... Groundbreaking, innovative electronics: 2 acoustic sounds, 2 electric sounds with mix option. Onboard reverb, chorus, distortion, phase reversal. Onboard dual notch filter and tuner. B-Band UST pickup (acoustic); AP-9 magnetic pickup (electric). Simple neck tilt mechanism for no-hassle action adjustment. Ibanez proprietary detachable neck with comfortable grip and shape....."

A bit rich for a guitar which is just a take on a Taylor T5!

Having said that, probably quarter the price, and yes, it DOES look pretty cool!

Re: Ibanez Montage...thoughts

When I see onboard effects on a guitar, the word "gimmick" springs to mind - they'd be better spending the (okay, it's probably five bucks worth of DSP chip.....) money on improving the basic guitar, rather than chucking in a bunch of effects which really should be either outboard, or in the hands of the soundguy.

..... still looks cool mind you.

Team America!

I don't know about this guitar. It's kind of ugly, and I sort of want one. I'll have to check one out.

The South Park one always comes to mind first for me - I think it's the whole 80s ski movie vibe in that episode, not to mention the "Stan Darsh" thing makes me laugh for some reason every time I think about it. I love the TA montage too, though.
