Ibanez non-AANJ neck on strat???

Does anyone know if a non AANJ ibanez neck will fit on a fender MIM fat strat? I was just wandering, because i love the wizard necks, but i also love the strat body and sound, so i wandered if i could combine the two? And do you think it will sound that much different?

If you like a particular neck shape, then that's great...being able to get all of your guitars playing similarly and feeling the same would be cool. Grafting that neck on a strat might be harder than it's worth, you'd have to cobble up the body a bit and not sure about how the extra frets and the bridge placement on the strat would compound to affect the scale length.

But there's hope...have your strat neck reshaped to match the wizard profile and radius, have it refretted with the same sized frets and that's about as close as you're gonna get. Not sure if the truss rod channel in a strat can handle taking a bunch of meat off the back of the neck, so I wouldn't go haywire on it. It would be more important from a playability standpoint to match the fretboard radius...but that's just my opinion and I like fat necks.

Another thought: if you don't actually have a spare wizard neck lying around to slap on your strat, buy a Wizard profile neck from Warmoth. That will definitely fit your strat and you'll be able to get 22 frets and keep your fender shaped headstock. You could even get it with a purpleheart fretboard if that's what floats your boat
Also, Ibanez wizard necks have 24 frets, and fender necks have 21 or 22, so even with the same scale length the Ibanez neck would come in closer to the bridge on the strat, requiring you to route the body to fit it; essentially destroying your strat.
Warmoth should be able to get you a replacement strat neck in a wizard profile for about 150, which is about what an old non AANJ RG neck would run you on eBay. Give it a thought. A Warmoth will also likely be a much nicer neck than the stock one, they make very nice replacement necks.

Just and FYI, all the wizard necks from the 540S or original 540P guitars are 22 frets and fit a strat perfectly. A non-AANJ wizard from an RG also has the same dimensions at the heel, but you have to saw off the extra two frets, and usually, depending on your neck pocket size and pickguard, shave off the extra maple reinforcement they leave under the fretboard. But nothing else is altered. The scale length is the same, and the location of the neck mounting is the same on any non-AANJ wizard.

Few necks will tolerate being carved down to a wizard profile. Warmoth never used to do it, and I've heard that its a hair thicker than an original Japanese Wizard. Their dual truss rod is a bit thicker.
