Ibanez Paul Stanley from the 70's - How many different ones

I've seen a few of these guitars on Ebay but noticed that some of the 1979 didn't look others that were from 1979. Were there different models? Like a cheap Korean version as well? What are the differences? Can you tell by the serial number and/or the letter it starts with?

Just like a Jem looks like an RG but you can't call an RG a Vai, there were myriads of Iceman models that had nothing to do with Stanley. Only a PS10 (or subsequent reissue) is a Stanley. Plenty of Iceman info here.

Thanks for the link, that's a pretty cool page. But I've seen different looking guitars with the "Paul Stanley" inlay from the same year. Some of them had different colour hardware or knobs. So I'm wondering specifically if there were any different Paul Stanley models in 1979? Is there a serial number key? I think I've seen serial numbers starting with both C and G -- anybody know what these mean?

I heard that stanley was having Ibanez do custom and one off guitars for him and then selling them (which is why he is not with Ibanez anymore... ) Is it possible you may have seen some of those?

The old serial # scheme, the letter stands for the month of production.

The Ibanez PS10 actually came in one model only during the 70's and early 80's.. No other models existed but the most sought after is th 1978 because of its low production run (absolutely no difference in guitar)..

1995 Ibanez re released the PS10 in 3 different models these were:

PS10 LTD Gold harware and Black Pearl finish with numbered certificate $2395

PS10 CL Classic exact specs as the 70's model chrome hardware and black finish (earlier ones with gibraltar bridge and later ones with gibraltar II bridge and tailpiece) and a few with a certificate of authenticity $1895

PS10 II Korean budget model looks similar to PS10 CL but with normal Tuneamatic bridge and AH Pickups.. No Paul Stanley inlay at 21st fret..

these guitars were discontinued in 1997 (I prefer the PS10CL to all of them ie 1996 Model)

I own 1 PS10 CL, 1 PS10II and a 1979 PS10.. and love them dearly (more than any other guitar I own...
