Ibanez Quality/ JS100 / S570DXQM

Hey all. First post here, and actually the second, as I just wrote something long, and detailed, went to preview, and lost it all. Doh!

In a nutshell, given the following options - which would you guys do?

1) Upgrade the stock pickups on a JS100 to PAF's or Freds

2) Purchase a new S570-DXQM

3) Save, save, save, and purchase a higher end model, like a JS1000 or a Prestige S

4) Buy a used S from Japan or USA

5) Save the money, and purchase nothing?

I'm really concerned about possible quality issues with the Ibanez S570, which is why I'm hesitant to get it, but I have always loved the way S's play, and that thing is beautiful to boot.

However, as it is in the same price range as the JS100, I'm concerned I'm going to be getting a new axe that is about the same as the JS100 - not an "upgrade" to it.

In your experience, how is the S series, lately, specifically, Korean or Indonesian made?

Without going back and re-writing the original 3 pages, I know there might be issues with clarity. If there is something specific you would like to know, please just post a response, and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Thanks in advance, and cheers!

What trem is on your JS100?
If the neck is sweet, and you are happy with it replace the trem and pickups. If it's not so good maybe save up for a better JS model. Remember, if YOU like the neck, don't worry about what others who haven't played your guitar think. You know what YOU like.

If it's a LO-TRS II then get a Gotoh licensed Floyd Rose, if it's Edge III find an Edge Pro. Both should drop right into each respective cavity.

Be sure to replace the studs and anchors with new quality ones. Gotohs are fantastic. Pick up some new Ibanez Edge/Edge Pro ones to go with the Edge Pro.

95% sure its the Lo-TRS II.

Part of the reason I bought it was because the neck played so well, to me.

Well you know what to do then. If it's a LO-TRS II trem get a Gotoh licensed Floyd Rose, pull the rubbish stock studs out, and drill the holes bigger, and install the locking Gotoh ones.

A JS neck is much different than a S-series neck. Have you played an S series?

Quite a few times actually, and it was always been comfortable to me, which is why I'm considering picking up that S570, the thing is, I'm worried about major quality issues with it...

If you decide to go for an S, I'd recommend a used s540 over any of the new stuff.

Why is everyone down on the S570's? And I don't mean just here. I love mine and it's beautiful. Sounds great, stays in tune, blah, blah blah....
And I have been doing this a long time and can play like a mudda fudda!
I'm just saying...

I'm not knocking it at all, I'm just concerned about the build quality, and wondering if Ibanez is going to extend that Premium line to the S series.

Re: Ibanez Quality/ JS100 / S570DXQM

A friend has an S570B and there are no quality issues whatsoever, plays great.

That being said, If you want a JS style guitar and don't want to drop a ton look for a Radius. They're a little bit harder to find but the price is less than either a JS1000 or a JS100, it's built in Japan and you won't have to worry about what kind of trem it has because it'll be either an Edge or a Lo Pro. Win.
