Question Ibanez Randy Rhoads-unknown model

Hello all
I have a new guitar since yesterday-a Ibanez flying V RR from 1992.
(look the photos)
I am searching for more infos, modelname/number/price and other details about this guitar.
How many flying V models arte made by Ibanez in the past?
I know the Rocket Roll 2 from 1982, the Proline 1660 from the middle eighties and the VBT 700. Why I canīt find any infos about this?
Problems with Jackson or Gibson?
Let me know about your experience with the Ibanez Vīs..
Thats it for now
cheers from germany
oliver

Sorry-I canīt attach a photo (upload error) or post a link.Thats ridiculous...

The 10 post minimum for posting pics is simply to stop folks joining up to spam the site, something we've had trouble with in the past.

Re: Ibanez Randy Rhoads-unknown model

Thanks for uploading the photos-very kind from you!!
Makes it clearer and easier to identify!
...and it sounds great-no analogy to the PL 1660 that I played in the middle eighties.Much better trem and neck and sounds excelent in distortion and clean.I always loved the Randy Rhoads guitar-and finally I found my non plus ultra!

It's interesting that is has V-series pups and an original edge. Made in Japan I suppose?

Do you think you may be a previous owner of this guitar?

According to what I can find, this is a Rocket Roll, apparently that's what Ibanez called the Rhoad's V's they made as well as the more regular v-shaped ones.

Re: Ibanez Randy Rhoads-unknown model

Apparently, these were a japanese market spot production guitar. There was also a DT model like it....they were all made in '92.

BTW....none of these guitars have anything to do with Randy Rhodes, other than the fact that they resemble his real signature series Jacksons.

Interesting!
All of the PL "Rhoads" shaped Ibbies I've seen had a PowerRocker trem--this Edge equipped beauty is superb.

That's very cool, didn't know about these 90s RRs. The burst finish looks nice! I'm guessing these 90s ones have a basswood body...

I think you mean Pro Rock'r , which was used by the '85 model. Bolt-on, alder body, front routed (ugh), oil finished neck, rail pups (V5).

The '86 model was neck-through (5 piece maple/walnut) with alder wings, non recessed Edge, same pups as '85 model. There's a pink one on Atlanta Craigslist atm. Got serious gas for one of these.

Re: Ibanez Randy Rhoads-unknown model

I used to have the red/orange sunburst version as shown above. Purchased new in the early 90ies (92 sounds about right) from a now defunct mail order place in Germany called "Roadrunner". It cost exactly 1200 German Marks back then (Germany has switched to Euro since then). So, at least this one wasn't "Japan only."

This one played really nice - a real shredder, but the pickups sounded aweful. I replaced those almost immediately. My band's other guitar player had the same one... same color even.

Roadrunner later sold a version with the same body style that said "EX" on the headstock. Those cost much less... a few hundred German marks. And from what I've heard they were nowhere close in quality... but those were all over the place.

I miss this guitar. Shouldn't have sold it.
