Ibanez RG 505 - My imagination or not?

Was there ever an Ibanez RG505? I think I tried one once (2000), and it was the best neck I've tried on any Ibanez. It felt so right! But at the time I wasn't leaning that way, so I didn't buy it. If it was now I would buy it just for the great feel. Does anyone know the specs for that model if it exists?

It could have been the RG550 model. Did it have a pickguard on it? Or if it was a used model it could have been the RG565 with the cool reverse headstock.

Yep, you're right. After some digging through some old catalogs and books. There was a RG505 made in 96 and 97 only. Pretty killer guitar. Probably worth getting if you can.

Yes, they do exist. The one I saw (Percy Prior's, before it closed down in Bham) was a neon yellow reissue from Ibanez. This was last year.

Specs?

Neon yellow body and headstock
Maple neck with black dot inlays
Black hardware (Edge Trem)
Neon yellow (reflective) pickguard.

All in all, it looked VERY cool. Priced around 500.

It's basically the same as an RG550 but with the Wizard2 neck instead of the Original Wizard.

Original Wizard * * *--------> * * *17mm deep at nut
Wizard2 * * * * * * * --------> * * *19mm deep at nut

It made it's debut in the Autumn (Fall) 1995 catalogue supplement, available originally in Candy apple and black. Other models available in this supplement included the RG 507 (like a 570) the RG547, like a 570, but with gold hardware and a "Light Ash" body and the RG527, which was like an RG570 but had a reversed headstock. The other cool guitar in this catalogue was the RG570MHSOL a solid mahogany RG570, with QM pickups and gold hardware
